~Slightly Cloudy~
Remember that slightly cloudy day, on the seashore, intertwining and twisting our fingers around as we doubled up then hugging each other as we rehearsed our one true love vows to one another? And after which I think, we had them committed to memory forever; we kissed and we had our promises pledged to each other...
Promises like, never letting go...to be each others shadow and mirror...to keep each other in check and lifting one another up when the depths of sadness chills our heart.
To be understood and to understand, to be loved as to love.
To grow to be one...forever.
Remember when I took out those silly half-heart shaped rings we bought when we were children and skid one into your finger? It didn't go far so we laughed. We laughed till you took the other ring and tried to do the same.
I smiled and took your hand onto mine and pulled you to lock your lips with mine. And we kissed as we put our rings together and both the half hearts made one heart.
I felt your sweet lips moving along mine, and you smiled at it. Tears brimming in your eyes. I kissed them away & you whispered, "I love you".
And today, I look at the small flecked rings I have kept all these years. Even if it doesn't fit, I still try to put it on...I try so hard, pushing the ring as far as it can go only because you had put it on me that cloudy day. And I can feel you touching my hands again.
I'm missing you so much; it still hurts a lot today as it hurt that day that you were snatched away from me. I hold the ring closer to my heart, my hands hugging around it.
It's just not fair, not to have you. I wish your hands were resting on mine at this instant. Devoid of, how much it hurts not to have you with me every day, it is you who I want to think of everyday to the end of my last breathe.
But I know you are always here with me and always will.
Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan, you're always loved, forever missed and never forgotten.
