There's a reason fans put up with all sort of s***y stuff that Gul dishes out...whether it was GHSP or IPKKND...all was forgiven and forgotten because there was a Khushi-ASR, a Geet-Maan .and now a Zoya-Asad...to smooth out ruffled feathers and weather over weak scripts ( and in some cases shoddy acting, actually OTT acting, mindless sub plots and innane dialogs) ..
The reason is the spell that the leads are able to cast over their audience with their play acting...
I am sure all of us have seen far more gut wrenching scenes and story lines in movies and soaps..What Zoya and Asad are going through isn't something that has never been filmed ever...So as audience we relate to the conviction with which the actors carry out their character's emotion, the finesse they bring into their craft, and above all the make believe chemistry they can create on screen is laudable...
I followed GHSP and IPKKND for the most parts..I don't think any scene really moved me enough to tear up...No offense to anyone but they were good entertainers with able actors..I'll leave it at that... Yet somehow I actually shed a tear or two watching Zoya break down in yest's episode, then again today...
There's a reason its said, duniya ummeed pe tiki hai..(hope makes the world go round)...a dream for a better tomorrow, a wish for a happier day...somehow..dashed hopes are the worst crime on humanity...Even the most ordinary man to walk on this planet lives for it, with it...Dreams are shaped and altered, they change with time, they give purpose, they bring contentment.. But hope actually makes your heart beat...
I have seen and known poorest ( money wise) of families live with such joy and then I have seen and known well endowed people with vacant eyes...Makes one wonder, doesn't it?
When Nirbhaya's tragedy raged through the country, the dormant mango republic was awakened...
we Hoped, now the govt would bring in stringent laws
we Hoped, our streets to be safer
we Hoped, criminals be brought to justice in a court of law
Nirbhaya's parents must have Hoped, for all the interest generated, their daughter would live
and when she died, they must've Hoped she get the justice she deserved...
and when the system failed and went back to snooze mode, they hoped daughters of this country not be subjected to a tragedy of such proportions...
I am not an emotional person, just that I relate to emotional aspects of human nature far more intensely..so while romance and all emotions good bring a smile to my face, my radars go bonkers where rona dhona is concerned...Comic timing and ability to make your audience cry with you, for you is a hallmark of a great performer...
Gul's damn lucky where her leads are concerned, shrewd and intelligent too, to cast such performers in her soaps...
