She brought her hands in front of her and prayed.Like always she prayed to the Almighty to give her strength, focus and prayed that she be bestowed with courage to follow the path she thought correct.
"Ya Allah, tomorrow is the wedding. Give all the happiness in the world. So much that even the galaxy is not enough to hold the together.Luck, and everything one desires for and what is the best for one. To him. Keep him happy. Always. He deserves it after everything he's been through. And give me the strength to keep going after what I am about to do."
She gave the house, house where she felt alive, welcome homely, where she lived carefree, which held bitter-sweet memories, a last glance. She took a deep sigh and headed out.
She sat on the bench and laughed.
This was the same place she had come to when he'd ordered her out of the house. This was the same place she had slapped a goon and gotten one in return.
This was the same place where he had gotten injured for her. The same place where they fought together. The same place that gave her hope of someone being there for her, no matter what happened.
She sighed and looked up at the stars. She wanted to curse. Whom, she had no idea.
She couldn't possibly curse the Almighty. Never even in her wildest dreams. Just because she trotted around in jeans didn't mean she didn't believe in Allah.
She did. Of course, there was no doubt.
She couldn't curse her fate. It was all destined. Just because she never said it loud didn't mean she did not believe in destiny.
She did. Of course, there was no doubt.
But why always her?
WHY?
Why did her mother have to be snatched from her?
Why could she never see her dad?
Why didn't she have a family like others had?
Why did her first love have to be adhoora, as they said?
WHY?
She didn't realise when her tears made their way down her cheeks and onto her lap.
No. She'd be strong. She always was. Always had been and always will be. She thought and wiped her cheeks.
Last time she was here she had no clue about the train or train timings. This time she had come prepared. She had also made sure no one would notice her absence until nikah tomorrow. With phoopi and tamatar busy with the preparations she'd assured them she'd reach the nikah venue tomorrow on time and that they didn't need to worry about her.
She felt bad lying to them. But it was necessary.
She was suddenly jostled out of her thoughts when she heard the faint sounds train arriving. She looked at her watch and got up and turned to go when,
"Don't leave. Please."
She turned back so fast as though she got a whiplash.
"Aap? What are you doing here Mr.Khan? Its your nikah tomorrow." It hurt to say that. But that was the first thing that came to her mind as her eyes took n his form. His hair were messy. Eyes bloodshot and they still harboured unshed tears. He was in his regular white kurta-pyjama night dress.
Before he could answer she heard the sound of fast approaching train.
"I have to go. All the best for your future life. Allah Hafiz."
Her breath hitched when he caught her wrist and turned her.
"Dont go. Please."
"I have a train to catch Mr. Khan. Like you, this train too is very punctual." She tried to laugh.
His grip on her wrist tightened. And his determination heightened.
"I wont let you go."
"And who exactly are you to stop me?" She retorted.
"Or give me a reason as to why I shouldn't go."
"Why are you leaving?"
"You didn't answer my question."
"Neither did you."
"I asked first."
"I asked second."
"Exactly Six pack jahapanah! Now answer why!" She threw up her hands in the air.
His brows rose up at her greeting.
"Because I wont let you."
"And you are?"
"Asad Ahmed Khan."
"And I am Zoya Farooqi. Thanks, Sherlock."
"Now you answer my question."
"I am leaving because I don't feel like staying here now." She bit out.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. And now if we are done playing twenty questions, excuse me I have a train to catch."
"And which one is that?"
She turned around to see the train leaving. And rushed towards it.
"My train! Someone stop the train! Pull the chain. I'm left here!"
He caught her by her waist and said the words she had never imagined he would.
"I've fallen for you."
"These are not the words one would say Vampire Khan." She was bursting with happiness. She wanted to dance, twirl around, scream from rooftops. Finally!
"Atleast I have said something Karate Farooqi. What about you? You havent even said anything."
"You are getting married tomorrow."
"Of all the things to say… No I am not. I never wanted to marry any other girl besides you. "
"But Tanveer…"
"Was a lying woman who wanted to use me for her benefit. I found out sometime back. Was just waiting for the right moment to expose her."
"Hey! How did you know I was here?"
"I always check upon you before sleeping. You happened to be leaving when I was about to enter your room."
"You know, there's a thing called privacy Asad."
"Nothing matters with you around Zoya…"
And so they went on walking towards their future while the stars above shone brighter and danced in their happiness.
