Actually, I live in Aus too...Aus allows for dual citizenship but India doesn't. Perhaps you are speaking of the OCI card? My parents have that and it means you don't need a visa to go to India.Got this from the Indian Embassy site"The Constitution of India does not allow holding Indian citizenship and citizenship of a foreign country simultaneously"😊

I am a USA Citizen, Born in INDIA, and I hold an OCI card. With an OCI card I don't need VISAs to come to INDIA and I can stay there for as long as i want. I can do anything in INDIA except I can't cast a vote. I can only vote for US's elections.
OCI's doesn't mean Dual Citizenship. I don't think any country allows dual citizenship. I think Dual citizenship is only possible if you were to born in a flight. Then you would get a citizenship of the countries that flight took off and lands in.OCI is possible if you are born in INDIA and then got you citizenship of USA. If you are born in USA but your parents or grandparents upto 4th generations are from INDIA then you can get POI (Person of Indian Origin) card.POI card expires and needs to be reapplied. Where else, OCI card never ever expires.I wish Zoya's birthplace is INDIA, and Asad finds all the information for OCI card and helps Zoya to get it.
When I applied for the OCI, i went to the Indian Embassy in Melbourne to submit forms and they told me that OCI and dual citizenship are same.. I have the right to do anything in india (like work, buy property, open a business etc) but the only one thing that i can't do is Vote..The person said that OCI is dual citizenship because you are ultimately a citizen of two different countries at the same time.
