I am sorry but I disagree with you on what Zoya should have supposedly worn. My personal belief is if you believe in god and are a true, kind and good person it doesn't matter what clothes you wear or where and how you choose to do your prayer. All that should matter is your heart and its truth.

I doesn't matter what one wears as long they are dressed modestly and that's just what Zoya had done compared to that silly saree clad woman.Dishad rightly pointed that out in all!Loved her for puttung it the way it is.It is the heart that has to be cleansed first,no matter how much one cover's themselves in hijab and burkha,if the venom and spite is present within, then a sin is being committed in the eyes of Allah!

I'm a liberal girl myself and I also wear jeans and t-shirts.. I now the main respect and love is in the heart... But, during prayers, in Islam especially..there are a set of rules that are mandatory to follow... And attire and position is two of them... It's in the Quran itself..., I have no problem with Zoya's dressing.. It's fine... But during such events, we don't dress that way no matter how modern we are... Your heart needs to be pure yes, which is the most important thing.. But, Allah also said that if you really truly care from the heart, you should be willing enough to follow a set of regulations which only shows a little more respect towards the all mighty and his kaida(rules).. It's not about the clothing, it's about respect... The way we position and dress for prayers is part of giving respect to Allah... We must try to follow the path of Ma Fatemah, daughter of Mohammed SAW, our prophet... No human being is perfect and we all know that, but in Islam , there are a few rules which must be followed... It's not to please the crowd or to make people say how good you are, it's for Allah and his respect... We must present ourselves in a respectful manner which are set through some guidelines , when making prayers.,. Allah said that try to be a good human being which is obviously not in the clothing you wear but also show me some respect 5 times a day through your prayers... I think that if Zoya was willing enough to cover her hair, she should have worn a full length salwar kameez... It's not about what society makes out of us but our respect to Allah... A pure heart is the first most important thing but it does come along with much more... I don't know how I am sounding but you really have to understand the religion to get my point.. I don't thinkm that Zoya should have worn jeans and top at the Quran reading... It's wrong... Muslims don't do that no matter how modern they are... We make sure we are in correct attire , which is full sleeves , full body length clothes, and loose clothes. Not body hugging tight clothes like she is wearing...

And the way she was making prayers and duaa, it was not right... Girls sit on their knees with their legs slanted to the side and their hands are together as ther recite prayers and duaa... I thought Gul would take care of these things she is Muslim ... The way Zoya actually went is offensive... Atleast for Quran and prayers we have to dress in attire and it's mandatory... I'm just pointing it out because since they are the only show on air representing Muslim culture after a long time, I think they should take care of these minor details and project it in a better way... There are some rules that we really not break and the position of prayer is also very important... They should try to portray the culture as correctly as possible ...

If Zoya wore what she typically wears, my question is why? What is Gul trying to prove here? As a liberal Muslim who does not even support wearing headscraves, I still do not dress the way Zoya would for a Quran Khani. In fact a majority of young Muslim girls raised in the west who are liberal would not. I wear shalvar suits or pants with longer shirts - covering my butt. It has nothing to do with what people will say but what is appropriate to wear at certain events. I wear swimming costumes in public, even belly dance outfits and mini skirts, so it's not as though I am a prude. However, when I go to a religious event, I dress accordingly. Of course Zoya's heart is pure and that how she dresses her business, and the woman who said whatever she did was wrong; however, why do the PH insist that the only clothing Zoya can wear is a pair of jeans for every event? Can't she even show up wearing a long skirt? This scene could have been equally effective is Zoya showed up in a dress or a longer chemise.
Frankly speaking it is fine that she wanted to wear a pair of jeans - it is between her and God, but even liberal women like myself don't necessarily behave this way. In fact, from what I have seen we actually dress conservatively on these occasions - at least that it what my friends and family do - and we're all quite liberal.
And most of this boils down to the PH and their cheapness with Zoya's wardrobe and their insistence that she's modern - OK, we know she is but come on, even modern girls dress up and wear desi clothes.
