In Fact, It is not allowed in Islam to go to make a shrine out of a grave. Islam clearly defines a direct connection between humans & Allah (SWT).

The very practice of keeping mannats & going to graves of the pious to ask the once alive to facilitate your prayer before Allah A) does not make sense as how can one ask another who no longer exists (is Dead) to put in a good word with God? It's not like the pious who have passed away (astagfirullah) hang out with Allah (SWT)? and B) This mannat business is infact considered as Biddah or innovation which basically means doing something the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) did not do or preach as a msg of God in his lifetime. The religion was complete 1400 years ago any new practice introduced after the Prophet (PBUH's) passing away has no significance as far as prayer and following Islam is concerned.

I saw a Dargah scene in many shows where Non-Muslims went to one. (Punar Vivaah, IPKKND)
Are Dargahs more open to all religions?
Just a question out of curiostity as I am Hindu and unclear of this concept

Dargah means grave of great muslim sufi and mosque means the place where muslims offering their prayers collectively.

The sufis were great people.
Humanity, love for human, sprituality was in their characterstics.
Their door was always open for every one be it muslims or non muslim.
They loved everyone be it muslims or non muslims.
Because of this many non muslim people also have very high respect and love for sufis so they also come in dargah.

This is sure an interest topic which could be debatable. There are certain sects/groups in muslims...Shia,Sheikh Sunni...etc...that have different practices and not all their beliefes are of the same...some do believe in going to Dargahs/mazars where as some groups do not follow this practice. It also depends where you are geographically from as certain things are just trends or for tradition only and not what is written in the Quran. In the Quran it specifically stresses that there is no one but Allah that one should bow down before...and the steps of Prophet Muhammed should be followed as an intermediary...in getting ones thoughts and one's self channelised towrds Alllah...the ultimate destination for all Muslims.Praying thorugh another force or entity is Shirk which means you are comparing another entity to Allah which is deemed a sin in Is Islam.

Going to darga is not shirk ...
Many muslims go to darga for ziyarat ...
Not only muslims but non muslims too ...go to darga

Some people know its importance n some dont ...
We r not saying a wali ..ie...a friend of allah as god ...

I agree that we do not need an intermediary to talk to Allah. Have not ever gone to maxars but saying that Muslims rarely go is wrong. A LOT of Shia Muslims go to mazars. I cross Data Ganj Baksh mazar frequently and it is always very very crowded. Especiaaly on the 3 day urs they have every year. Mazars are also very common in Iran too.

However, i think this issue is a litttllle too sensative to discuss here as people from different sects are here and some of them might be offended if their basic beliefs differ from ours. And the last topic we want to fight on is religion. :-)

PS sorry for typos. Using phone

Well said. Shia Muslims and those who follow aspects of Sufism goes to these places. And It was something which disturbed me also when it was shown first time in Qh but then we do see it in Hindi movies as well and like you said it's a sensitive issue to discuss for us related to the serial. many things are shown with which we cannot connect if seen in a religious point of view.best if we do not discuss them and take the show as something meant to be just a form of entertainment.😛

People, the point is not which group or sect believes in going to dargah or not. I respect those who do and those who don't. What bothers me is the impression we get from TV that most or all Muslims go to the dargah as part of their rituals/religious activities when the actual fact is that the percentage who actually do visit such places is small. This misrepresentation on TV makes many viewers think that this practice applies to ALL Muslims, when it doesn't. Especially for those who do not know much about Islam, they expect to learn such concepts from a Muslim-centric show that could educate people.

Agreedd it is haram to go to such places for the purpose of asking something... If you want to visit such a place, it should only be for asking forgiveness on behalf of the person who is dead.. But then again only to his grave.. .Its not even allowed to built a shrine, dargah, mazaar etc...

And most people justify it by saying that hum toh ek naek bande ke paas jaa rahe hain "We are going to a pious person's grave..." But it should be clear that the person who is dead cant hear what you are saying and even if he does he cant do anything about it.. When a person cant do anything for himself what will he do anything about another person, when he is dead...

If he is alive, he can pray for you but why do u want someone else to pray when the Quraan clearly says that the last third of the night, is where Allah descends down to the first heaven and you can ask whatever you want.. When you get a direct connection, why do u want an indirect connection...

Now, personally i feel that since the people acting these scenes are not Muslims - it might be difficult for them to pray Namaaz..
And nobody is allowed to hold the holy quraan unless you are pure and testify that there is NO god but Allah...
In such a case, it is better not to show all that stuff...

Now dont say why do Muslims go and do other religious activities.. .Well for them its their own belief.. It depends on how strong their belief is and they know what they are doing...

I mean no offence to any one... Every religion has it rules.. Even Islam has some rules and they should be followed by a believer... (:

I agree.. It would be much better if they show just dua and end it... They shouldnt be showning dargah, mazaar or masjid/mosque...
People learn such mis conceptions veyr easily especially shown on tv...
