I've recently read a post about how Four Lions would be better off spacing the time between the characters and giving more depth to them rather than just focusing on Asad-Zoya as it'll mean the actors will have more stress and lack of storyline to fulfil the audience. I have to say, I agree. Qubool Hai has become a huge success this far because it doesn't necessarily focus on Asad and Zoya throughout the episode but Rashid and his family as well as Humaira-Ayaan, Nikhat-Imran, and Razia and her conspiracies. You have a mixture of different tracks, different emotions and that's what melds the episode together rather than say if it was just the two main characters. Though we would love Asad and Zoya moments, do we seriously want a whole episode of just them with no real relation to the plot?
Also, I've been thinking about the meaning behind "Qubool Hai?" During a Nikaah, this is what the Imaam says to the bride and groom, asking them if they 'accept' this marriage. But then I think of it in the platonic sense, as "acceptance". You see, the actual title has a lot of ambiguity...what does it actually mean? And who is it aimed at?
You have the main couple, Asad and Zoya. Perhaps they have to "accept" their relationship? Another reason for them to be the ultimate couple in the end. But maybe it's much more than that, maybe it's Asad and Zoya "accepting" the other, despite their faults. Despite the fact that Zoya is messy and despite the fact that Asad is an introvert. And then there's Ayaan and Humaira...one who loves the other, and the other who is blind. Even if the whole Ayaan and Zoya track may happen, it doesn't give a reason why the CVs show us Humaira's love for Ayaan and their flirty yet pure friendship. Could "Qubool Hai?" mean for them that Ayaan "accepts" Humaira as his love? And then there's Nikhat and Imran - will he ever stand up for his to-be wife and 'accept' her with all her (supposed) faults?
If we look at the platonic sense, it could be the "acceptance" between Rashid and Asad where Asad accepts Rashid as his father. Or perhaps even so, the "acceptance" of the families becoming together? Maybe then, Najma would 'accept' her sisters (and Ayaan) as her siblings seeing as we haven't seen a strong view from her side yet.
Qubool Hai: A way of saying "acceptance". Could it be that you accept the path to find the truth (The reason behind Zoya's parents and Rashid-Dilshad separation) no matter what you may go through?
Is this what the true meaning of Qubool Hai is?
