Unfortunately the writer's actual article is full of stereotypes and has a way of looking down on Indian soaps. But Qubool Hai still got covered. Check it out:

This is really cool! Thanks for sharing. Even she is predicting the love triangle that we still aren't sure is happening 😆

I read this article a while back but never found a section on India. Lovely to see it got covered. I see your point.

Awesome. Not really. It is a double-edged compliment. It was picked with many others for being a Muslim social - unique to Indian soaps. But the write degraded Indian soaps all the way, including this one. Read the article. It is very nuanced.

Exactly. the reporter was mocking the whole concept of the show. She hasn't even attempted to highlight the good points of the show. This show is so different from the other shows that it is being compared to and is not totally regressive. The reporter needs to watch what she is saying.

I understand our sensitization to foreign media critique but, if you look carefully the author carries a condescending attitude to pretty much all the nations covered. I could be stereotypical and say that's the American Way. But, there is a slight possibility that we also carry a bias and have our guard up too high when reading.

"All that brooding, heaving and sighing"
It was a reality check and i feel stupider for being the only one in my extended family to watch an indian daily. I can now understand why my mom cant get why i need to watch something of this sort. Is it really as silly as reading mills and boon? I remember my horror when i found some mills and boon in my mom's childhod home among her better novels😆
But to think about it again indian soap operas are no worse or better than series like gossip girl, grey's anatomy or desperate housewifes😉

Really, did not read the article..just saw the page with clips of picked shows and little brief summary on the side, cant find the whole article. How foolish of me to think that western critic will say anything good about Indian showa.. they dont even spare well made highly acclaimed Indian movies..I guess their standard is just different.
