Today's episode was far more realistic... After yesterday's Bollywood style drama, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was hoping for the best. What struck me most was that the lionesses roared... The women spoke their mind today while the men listened for once! It was also about repentance and forgiveness.
Some things that worked for me:
1. Asad continues to get the cold shoulder: Loved how Najma reacted to Asad when he walked into the dining area and offered to take whatever she was making for Zoya. And the silent treatment continued, it was subtle... But enough for him to notice that mom and sis were not happy...
2. Zoya tells Asad like it is: she doesn't let him forget about what he's done... Not for a minute... From the time she's up, she refuses his offer of assistance... heads to get water from the kitchen... Gives him a piece of her mind till she faints... Loved how she brought up all the issues... his know it all attitude, him being judgemental about her, his ego and unwillingness to see views divergent from his own... the fact that it was at his insistence that she went to meet Akram in the first place, and the fact that his education hasn't freed him of his prejudices...
3. The conversation between Dilshad and Rashid: loved the dialogue... And the way she made her points... That scene was well enacted... My heart was with Dilshad when she noted that Rashid shouldn't have slept easy for 17 years... So true... He made his bed, and he must lie in it... Most importantly, I loved that she asked him how he would've reacted if it was her in his place... And how in the end she tells him he's forgiven for everything... I guess she realises how much it's eating him up, this guilt, and the person that she is, Dilshad wants to lessen Rashid's guilt
4. Asad, the lion is a meek cat and lets his lioness roar: he listens quietly, tries to apologise saying he didn't know Akram was that sorta guy.. But she cuts him and goes on... And he listens patiently.. Till she falls on him... He carries her back to her bed gently and lets her vent... Even returning everytime she calls out to him to only rub it in that she won't talk to him and vice versa... The frustration at the end is apparent on his face but he knows its best to zip it up... He deserves this.
5. Asad is falling slowly but surely... Attraction, love, whatever... Early days but seems like Mr. Khan can't get Ms. Farooqui out of his mind... Her yelling is no deterrent... Hehe!
What I would have liked:
1. Dilshad giving Asad a piece of her mind: what happened to Zoya was his fault and she's a guest at their place, so Dilshad is responsible for her. I wish she'd brought that up with Asad... After all Dilshad is answerable to Zoya's family.
2. The fainting/ falling asleep could have been more natural: thought it was abrupt, could have been executed better...
3. Police action against Akram: Was hoping Asad would take care of this, maybe he wants to confirm with Zoya if she wants to report it... It's not too late CVs, please make this happen
Things to ponder:
1. Dilshad says "Main yeh aadat badalna nahin chahti hoon" but old habits die hard... She can't walk away when she finds he's blacked out... Does this portend something? Will there be a change in tide... When Shireen's family rejects Rashid, and he has no one to turn to but the family he once disowned?
2. How long will the charade last? Ayaan trying to cover up for Rashid so Shireen doesn't get hurt...
3. When will Asad return Zoya's earring... He never got a chance to clarify its with him...
4. What's that strange art on the wall in Zoya's room? Does it read 'Dier? What does it mean?
Wows:
Asad's expressions were spot on in most cases, same for mom and sis dearest. Shireen's look when hubby comes home
Peeves:
Zoya's expressions in some scenes were off... Couldn't figure out what she was trying to convey when Asad walks in while the ladies are fussing over her.. The look she gave was sorta snooty? But she recovered well with that guilty look when she spills the water. Also she was moving her lips too easily while talking... She was bleeding yesterday and had a bruise today... Wouldn't it be a li'l tough for her to talk? Bad direction perhaps?
