He was always fighting within himself for being attracted to her. And he was sure that it is not because she looked exactly like Maithli. She was something more. But what came as a surprise is his comparison of Maithili and Piya post leap. The realisation that Maithili never came back to him for answers whereas Piya would never leave him till she got her answers. This side of thought never occurred to me.
It clearly conveys why Abhay chose Piya over Maithili.


yup. it's something I remember thinking during the show too. she could have come but she didn't. in her way she felt betrayed too but so did piya yet she still went after abhay.😆
