@shumi-yaar leave alone da other thngs as hira has mentioned all da thngs&i have mentioned wht is my pov in an earlier post of my mine bt,in wht basis are u saying dat a16 yr old is mature enough2take his or her decision??U asked in wht era we are,bt sweety to undrstand dat da teen age dat means4m13to19 is a complicated phase 4any individual doesn't requre2b in any era,it's scientifically&medically proved,being a med student i know dat due2some hormonal change ppl go through some physical&mental changes whch often results in taking severe wrong decisions regarding lyf by dem.Dey need sincere&cooperative frnds&experienced guide bside dem through dis complicated period.Don't get me wrong here,i myself am a 20yrs old girl&don't consider myself as wise in every aspect of my life&den wld bow on my parents as i know dat dey are my best wishers.Incase of sumo it was totally nt da case:-)) exactly. having teenagers for siblings and being a teenager myself not too long ago, I know the problems they go through. Every little thing seems so huge. Every break up means the end of life..thats how sumo is feeling right now...simply put, shes not ready for marriage..

to certain extent i can agree with you adolescence age is bit complicate,for sure it needs parental care . but for your very kind information (i have done masters in science , 22 years of study, married and i have two lovely school going kids) in olden days teen age girls get married and lead successful married life.almost all the ekta's serial portraits this example bandini.... teen age santhu is shown as more wiser than dharamraj...i married to a man whom my parent suggested cuz as you said we all know that our parents are the best wishers .they do the best for us.when love come we neglect every thing...it is so powerful.

i don't know where do you live.i live in canada...god! you should see how these teen age girls are. that is why here they teach sex education from grade four...again i want to say from grade four...and government permits 16 to 18 year girl or boy to live their life independent, because the canadian government thinks they are mature , they have the right to live their own life.i don't think canadian government don't know about science.
i agree this serial is indian based one but maturity state is same every where. i cannot agree teen age girls are immature.there may one or two exception like you and i but not all.

lol..i live in canada as well and spent all my teenage years here, and i agree some teenagers are mature but most often, all are not.....i'm sure u know all about the increasing amount of drunk-driving accidents, drug-related problems and teenage pregancies etc that the north-american system goes thru..Sure they give the kids the freedom but most often they abuse it since kids don't use that freedom responsibly..government wants kids to practice safe sex which is why they have sex education from an early age. but when that knowledge, coupled with teenage hormones, doesnt usually result in resposnsibility (i'm not saying ALL the time..but often!) n im not saying that the government is wrong or anything either..after all, the rules and regulations they have put up is after long consideration of observation of patterns n trends, etc..but there are some cases when the best for majority don't apply...
And maturity levels just don't depend on biology..environment plays an important role as well..and as u said, canadian teenagers are taught to be independent from their childhood, whereas I feel in South asia, kids are encouraged to be more dependent, more close to their family etc..this doesn't mean they can never be independent, its just that they are more sheltered. And also, maturity comes from the experiences you go through in life. There are some cases where you are exposed to such events that force you to grow up quickly whereas other people aren't even mature for their age...

@shumi-thnx4ur kind rep.
U're ryt dat in older days women were married off in an earlier age bt,due2dis dey had2face a lot of ominous consequences lyk complication in pregnancy,being mother in a tender age,inabily2fulfill wantings of inlaws due2lack of understanding.Now wid raised percentage in education ppl have understood da dire consequences&parents now prefer2see dere grl child first educationally aswellas mentally&physically mature enough&den married.
I stated dat teenagers're nt mentally mature enough&so usually tend2do da grave mstakes of lyf whch often leads2 unwanted social havocs lyk teen pregnancy or unsafe sex leading2stds&due2dis the govt.Of the developed countries lyk canada teach dem about sex since4th grade.It's so obvious,as ppl dere're so fast&'ve da freedom2lead dere lyf as dey want.Dere's no harm in living lyf bt,being a mother at a tender age or getting addicted2drgs is certainly nt xpected.
So,a teen wid a fullfledged m.maturity is an xception as she has yet2go a long way!
Jst my pov.
