I believe that not only punjabi's r getting modern but everyone in gerneal in society is. Even though I am born and raised in Canada and have just went to India twice in my life I feel that I am well bonded with roots. My parents hav well educated me and my two other siblings about the punjab lifestyle, religion, and our traditions however how m the only one who seems to be connected wid my roots while my other two sibling r completely white washed and totally don't care abt anything.Even though they r younger than me dey complain to wear traditional clothing such as suits and say y should we wear these and can't even speak punjabi clearly. However, I love dressing up when ever possible and to main our culture, i can speak pure punjabi without an english accent. However, i m takin punjabi classes to learn da written part. My family always makes indian food and once or twice a week we eat western style food. On weekends we make aloo or methi parotas. We speak in punjabi mainly wid our parents and family only my brother sis always want 2 speak in english. We go to the gurdwara every weekend and sometimes on weekdays as well. I m always listen to punjabi music which is connected to our roots. We celebrate all the common holidays that were celebrated in India here in Canada. However, my two cousins came from india two years ago dey were pure indian stlye people and now dey can't even pronounce punjabi words without english accents, even dun like suits and try to act all cool and try to compete wid children dat our born here. They hav totally 4gotten dere roots which is totally unbelieveable and dey trying to be cool and modern. Here in Canada so many indian people r involvd in gangs especially immgrants dat cum from india and dey want to luk cool and make money quickly get involved wid drugs. The people that cum from india try to blend in more wid the people already here and in dis process dey 4get there roots just like my cousins dey say dun't want 2 go bac 2 india again!
