Hey guys! MJ, Borna, Nina. Not sure if anyone else is around. Just finished watching the episode. The latter part of the episode, from the kids praying for Aarti to the end was just pure bliss (with one hiccup dressed in orange, but she was gone for the most important parts).
Borna, loved the Yash-Aarti-Aayu scenes most of all too. ❤️ I think I understand what others mean when they say it felt rushed since Aayu's birth is such a significant milestone, and the emotional moment could have been harnessed to its maximum over the course of 2 episodes or so. For me, I probably would have had Aarti go into labor at the end of today's episode and then deliver the baby tomorrow. However, what we got was so good for the very things you mentioned, particularly the wonderful absence of melodrama. Yash-Aarti-Aayu alone are absolutely beautiful. *happy sigh*
We share the same gripe with the first Yash-Aarti hospital scene. 😵 It goes back to what we spoke about last night in terms of pacing Ishita properly and showing her in increments. Going back a bit to opening of the episode where we saw the set up for the failed gas explosion that took 4 minutes (I counted because it seemed to go on for so long). 4 minutes! For me, all I needed to see was the beginning where she takes out the hose and uses the open garbage can to divert attention to the smell. Her exchange with Suman about the mangoes wasted precious time (when did the Scindia family hire a cook and why bring her now all of a sudden?). Then her constant internal yapping about setting up the bad smell and putting the lighter closer was absolutely useless to me. Give us just enough to know what she's doing and then get on with it! Then, IA, the constant "cut to" Ishita in that first Yash-Aarti scene bristled. I would have preferred it if they showed us Yash and Aarti in their own little world, then cut to Ishita's face only before the commercial break, just so that we know she was watching the entire time. We don't need to watch her watch them all the time. Of course, that's just my preference and how I would have written and directed it. But I'm a civilian, so what do I know? 😆 Still, for me, it would have been nice to give Yash, Aarti, and the viewers some time alone with the baby. Time needs to be portioned off well and maximized because they may end up giving the impression that the birth of this baby is more about Ishita's crazy and not about Yash and Aarti. Not saying that's what happened, but, IMHO, they need to tread carefully with how she's used.
I was grateful, though, that she was absent for their next scene, the one I found most significant. Will talk about that in a bit.
Nina, on a time change, I don't know if that will happen. I too am very anxious about Zee and its' practices because this is indeed business for them, so they will be looking at the TRPs. I also hope the baby's arrival brings in some numbers. I'm unsure about how many TRP viewers are interested in Ishita's continued hovering and malicious plotting against Aarti and the baby. So they could be shooting themselves in the foot with this Prashant-esque approach or they could get viewers' interest back. We'll have to wait and see how the TRPs shape up next week to know. I'm hoping for the best.
On Ishita moving towards being exposed, IA. IMHO, someone other than Bua -- Yash or Aarti or her husband -- needs to know the truth of her intents soon, if not for the character's sake, but for the sake of the arc's momentum. I truly enjoy seeing her plans constantly being foiled, but it's going to become repetitive if she continues her failed planning undeterred and undetected for too long. I was saying the same thing on the DC today. However, it seems the prevailing thought is that Ishy "spices" things up and if this arc with her ends too soon, then there may not be much to explore or a leap would be necessary. For me, with a new baby in the house, I would like to think that there are new challenges for Yash, Aarti, and the older children to confront without the need for any leaps. I don't believe the fate of the show's arcs should rest on the length of time a baddie stays in play. Maybe I'm being naive about the TRP viewers and I probably am because I don't always understand what works for them. But I'm sure there are stories for Yash, Aarti and their kids that TRP viewers might like where baddies can be brought in (baddies that don't reside in the SM so we get them in increments) to add the "spice" needed. Oh well! This arc and Ishita's obsession will need to play out. I hope the Mittals figure out what needs to be done with her (and her husband) and give us a well-written continuation.
Will post my reaction to the 4.18 episode in another post, since this one is already on overload. 😛
OK, so I've talked about what I didn't like for the most part. 😆 Now, what I loved:
Kratika and Gurmeet really made that last scene crackle! It's such a signature Yash and Aarti scene, the kind you know will be etched in your memory for a long time. The ease, the contentment, and the love between Yash and Aarti as they take in their little boy are so palpable. It was beautifully performed and written.
