Oh, wow! Fantastic stuff on this entire page! 😃
Kadeen's succinct summary of the state of things,
Anu's and
Jac's reviews and hopes - thanks for such great reads, ladies! I found myself nodding to much of what you all were saying, so I'll sit back and save you from another long response that would take away precious time.
Ishita and Maya are definitely in the irritant-plus-comic-relief category of characters for me as well. The irony is really very fun, even if their actions/words often elicit immediate reactions of annoyance from me. I usually am grimacing or wanting to yell in frustration, but that is sometimes followed by a grin if there is situational or verbal irony at play as well. That irony is very entertaining. Probably the only reason I even bother to watch Ishita's scenes, LOL. (I'm kidding, I'd sit through them regardless, but the entertainment factor makes them meaningful, too)
If Ishita does decide to act upon this Menaka allusion, that might somehow end up being the last straw if Yash or Aarti catch on. I doubt people want to see a delusional, "illusions-are-sustenance," woman trying to actually seduce her brother-in-law whom she thinks is supposed to be her lover/husband/eternal soulmate/whatever else Ishita thinks in that head of hers. If is the operative word here, of course.
A few random things:
- Jac: LOL at your choice of words for Ishita! I love them. Looney tune, inner yapping, cobwebs of her brain, running for the hills...Oh yes, and about the Aarti/Ishita contrast, you reiterated what I remember saying at the beginning of this entire "foil" arc with regards to Aarti's positivity and her lack of wallowing in self-pity. Yash did enough of that for the two of them, haha. So true on the healing part, too.
- Anu: Ditto to all that you've said about comedy lining the "irregular triangle" that Ishita is trying to force Yash-Aarti into. Not talking about a love triangle because Ishita is the only being who would ever insert that 4-letter word into a sentence that has her and Yash's names in it. Yuck. Someone, please, please show her reality. And then get rid of her!
Parting thought: I am all ready to cherish whatever happy doses of scenes we get in the show. No mourning and moping from me. Not yet, at least. Taking things one day at a time just makes the viewing experience easier. Aayu, come soon!
