I think in cases like this the people who check the body check for evidence or something like that. I think that's what happened. Correct me if I am wrong.

Nice post! I think the CVs are trying to show us that the Scindhia family have the police in their pocket. Their so-called name and fame is farreaching. As unrealistic as the scene with removing the motel keys, was the scene where the police write off the incidence as self defense and declare Yash to be innocent even before arriving at the crime scene and examining the body.
