@Mansi: I think you misunderstood what I meant about Vidhi. I meant to say she brought up an interesting point, as in for discussion, not that her idea itself was a particularly good one! It brought up the question of ends and means. If in the end Aarti's name is not changed, does it justify them bowing down to the mandate now? Or should the principle be fought for and the Scindias made to understand that this marriage is off if the name change happens?
Personally I am all for upholding the principle of the thing. I mean how will Aarti live with and respect herself knowing she gave into something like this when she absolutely didn't believe in it, the name changing happening after marriage or not, notwithstanding? And if Aarti doesn't respect herself then how will Ansh be happy and how will Yash grow to respect and love her?
That was the interesting question raised by Vidhi's mentos-worthy idea and I thought I would bring it up. 😃

@Jyoti: Geez ... I wrote ten thousand words to bring out my take, and you just wrote the key ideas in ten short and simple sentences! Wow!👏👏👏
Actually as you know yesterday I was feeling a bit unhappy about this whole name-change thing and I was wishing the CVs had not introduced this idea into the serial. It looked very regressive. But today through that issue I felt I was able to see each of the characters in their true colours. So in a way it is good I suppose to have some issues that can shake up every body.Waise that Daddy Scindia was just too much today. For that kind of man to be tackled we need all the women to form a massive protest group that can gherao him ... he was like a steamroller today flattening out this Shobha and Aarti!

@Samana: That was an absolutely sensational analysis you have done of the reasons why Aarti's character may have changed so much from the hockey-stick gundi to the docile unresistant floor-staring woman. In fact you took me by surprise when you pointed out that the gundi was the facade and the real Aarti may be the one unsure of herself and her future.
I don't necessarily think that the bold Aarti is better than the reticent one, but the key thing is which of these personas is going to come to the fore in this marriage. Neither the gundi nor the silent one seem right. Shouldn't we have a new personality for Aarti that is somewhere between the two extremes - or perhaps something entirely unexpected? Her character seems unevolved at the moemnt (in fact even Yash's character seems that way). I want to see how they evolve separately and together and which aspects of themselves really comes to the fore to define them in this marriage.
