Airing out the family dysfunction

Today I was struck with the symbolism of the family/khandani occupation of the Jakhotias being raddiwalas, that is dealing with junk --recycling it, taking it apart, and disposing of it. In a similar fashion, with the exception of Raj, they air out their internal raddi, garbage, in their family dynamics also, calling each other names, blaming and yelling at each other. Usually in TV serials, the families are very concerned about saving their name and reputation by going great lengths to conceal their shortcomings and put up a polite front, but here it is the opposite. For this reason, I find it refreshing that in PV ENU the characters are shown to have no qualms whatsoever in enacting their relationship by airing out their grouses in front of guests. First Divya, and now the new America-returned Mausi were treated to the family dysfunction in full bloom. Since they are unable to listen to each other, it appears that they need an audience to vent out their frustration and communicate with one another. It will be interesting to watch how this proceeds, and what it will take for the characters to grow and evolve and for each one to get out of the victim mode.
