Recap: Baaton baaton mein Prithvi aur Sanyogiya ke bich misunderstanding wali baat chedi jaati hai......... Ab aage.......
************************** Part 9 ***************************
"Inn dono ko toh akele chodna hi nahi chahiye."
"Ha.....pehle lad rahe the, ab aankhon mein aankhein daale khade hai." loud uproar of laughter spread.
Crowd had again gathered on the staircase where Prithvi and Sanyogita were standing. They could hear commotion and laughter around them.
"Lagta hai nayi nayi shaadi hui hai." said one man. Everyone laughed again.
Prithvi and Sanyogita stood expressionless. They hardly paid attention what others were commenting. They were in their past, thinking of that night when Prithvi was about to kill Jaichand, when Prithvi tried to tell Sanyogita the actual story, behind the scene.
"Bhai aaise kaise bhul jate hai ke aaju baju bhi koi hai."
"Kaam karvana hi hai, toh alag alag karvao innse." the same woman, who had asked Prithvi and Sanyogita not to fight, appeared along with the other three.
Laughter was more intensed.
"Ha, Lakshman chalo toh hamare saath, tambu se aur samaan lana hai." One person said pulling Prithvi's hand. Prithvi looked around and saw everyone's eyes were on them. Since how long these people were teasing them, he couldn't make out.
"Ha mein aata hu." Prithvi released his hand, glanced at Sanyogita and went with him.
Sanyogita watched him going.
"Woh tumhara hi hai beti, kahi nahi jayega. Tum ab yeh lo, humare saath yaha ki safai shuru karo." Said one of the women in a teasing manner, by giving broom to Sanyogita, who forgot, what to do with that.
"Bolo maa Santoshi ki........Jai......."
Sanyogita was about to reopen their topic of misunderstanding. The way he talked to her, she got this feeling for the first time that, he was talking about something which she does not know. She now wished to hear more from him, but loosed an opportunity. It seemed, yet the right time has to come.
Payal, Pundir and Arjun were not completely aware of the emotional storm rising in Prithvi and Sanyogita's mind. So they were enjoying strange behaviour of Sanyogita, confused Prithvi and the fun going around. Whatever it was, though they were not sure, their plan would work out the way they want, somewhere, without their knowledge, the fate was on their side.
Miles away from Seetapur.......... in the court of one palace ........three men were busy discussing plans and politics.
Though the day was bright outside, inside the palace everything looked dull and unpleasant. There were around twenty windows, ten on left and right of the throne, each, between two pillors and with beautiful curtains. But King had ordered to shut these windows. He was unable to treasure the fresh air coming from outside.
In front of the window there was a seat for the honoured court member of that empire. All the seats were empty that time. In the centre of the hall, there was an oval shaped pond with fountain in it. Since the same water was circulated, foul smell was slowing spreading from the pond water.
It seemed surrounding's hint was unnoticed by three people inside the court.
"....Ha.....Prithvi bhi Ajmer mein .....mauka hai,....." said the king who was sitting on the throne. "Iss baar toh bazzi hamare haath mein aani hi chahiye." He looked tensed and was pressing his eyebrows with his fingers. He was tilted on his left, with his left elbow on the arm of the throne. He had a lank personality.
"Aayegi....., bazzi haath mein jarur aayegi, bas thoda dheeraj rakho." said the second man in the court. He was sitting on the seat near the throne, on the dias and was playing with the king chessmen.
"Kaise dheeraj rakhhe? Yojna ke mutabik kuch bhi nahi hua, khabar bhi galat nikli." said the king in a restless manner, waving his hands.
Third man who was standing in front of them, bowed his head down. He was bald-headed, tall and healthy.
"Galat nahi ....., hamare guptcharon ne khabar bilkul sahi di thi, bas dushmano ne waqt pe apni chaal badal di." the second man concluded.
"Unhe shak aaya hi kaise. Itni achi tayyari karne ke bavajud aur iss baar toh koi galti nahi hui phir ......."
"Nahi....." second man interrupted"dushman ko humne kamjor samjha yehi galti humse hui." He palced the chessmen from left hand to right.
"Ha....." said the king in a calm down tone."Thik kaha aapne." He sat straight.
"Ab Bhul jao uss baat ko. Ab aage ki chal socho." second man looked at king.
"Aage ka kya?" again restlessness rose in the king. "Hum keh dete hai aapse.....humse haar bardasht nahi hoti hai." saying this he banged his hand on the arm of his throne.
"Hare kaha hai hum? Abhi toh aasli khel shuru hone wala hai. Bas iss khel ka aant thik se ho jaye.....ab toh baazi haath mein hai, delhi ke jasus santoshi maa ke utsaav mein hai. Aur mauka milte hi....."
"Yehi toh....." King got up asking"mauka hi kyun nahi mil raha?" He walked to the right end of the dias."Inn logone ab tak yeh nahi pata lagaya, ke agar Kanha Ajmer mein hai toh, weh delhi ke jasus aakhir kaun log hai?" He moved back to the centre."Aapne rajjya ke guptcharon ke saath inhone kya yojna banai hai? Woh kagjaad kaha hai?" He took another round in front of his throne. Second man did not answer but only pressed the chessmen by closing his palm around it. He was also finding the answers for the questions raised by the king.
"Maharaj....., hamare aadmi kaam pe lage hi hai. Jaise hi kaam ho jayega aapko khabar kar di jayegi." the standing man spoke for the first time.
"Ho jayega nahi..... kaam ho gaya, yeh sunna hai hume." King shouted at the bald-headed guy, taking pause from his rounds.
Nobody spoke. The only sound in the hall was of water splattering through the fountain.
After a minute or two, king clapped his hands twice and called "Sipahi"
From the right door sainik came and bowed down before the king.
"Maharaj ki jai ho!"
"Maha mantri ko bulaya jaye." King ordered.
"Jo hukum!!!" sainik again bowed down and left.
"Ab waqt aaya hai, delhi ke guptcharon ka khel janne ka, aur unke har ek khel ko nakaam karne ka. Ek baar Delhi ka yeh payya kamjor pad jaye, phir delhi ko harana mushkil nahi hoga aur nahi Maharaj prithvi raj Chauhan ko."
Forcing the window to open, wind blowed through the palace making gushing sound. Three of them shuddered and looked out through the window. For a moment they thought prithvi is rushing in. Fear setteled on their faces. The king was about to remove his sword. Chessmen in the other's hand fell down. When nothing unexpected happened, they relaxed.
Silence spread again and it was broken by mahamantri who walked to the dias, bowed to his king and said "Aapne yaad kiya Maharaj."
"Hum yeh jaan chuke hai, ke yaha baithe baithe nishana hum nahi laga payenge. Hume jana hi hoga."
Mahamantri was not able to catch his king's words. But he did not show it."Toh hamare liye kya aadesh hai?"
"Mahamantri, kya hamare kal ki jane ki tayyari ho gayi?"
"ji ho chuki hai."
"Bahot acche" second man got up, picked up the chess piece and stood near the king.".....hum bhi chalenge tumhare saath."
"Thik hai, mahamantri hamare saath inki bhi chalne ki tayyari ki jiye."
"Ji maharaj."
"Jo sena ko tayyar rakhne ko kaha tha uska kya hua?"
"Maharaj..... sari tayyari ho chuki hai, Apni sena ke dus tukdiya tayyar hai. Bas aapke ishare ka intazaar hai."
"Bahot achhe"
"Ha sun kar achha laga ke, ab humari tayyari acchi hui hai." King smiled. "Jankari milte hi, Delhi ke dakshin rajyo se shuru karna hai aapko. ..... iss baar puri chalakhi barakhni hai. Thik hai ab aap ja sakte hai."
Mahamantri bowed down and left.
"Hum bhi nikalte hai." said the king.
"Ha bilkul, thoda aaram hi kar lo."
"Ji, aur aap bhi."
Before stepping down from the dias, he turned towards the standing man and asked"Aashram ke Maya maa ko khabhbar bhijavadi ke nahi?"
"Ji khabar aaj shaam tak unhe bhi mil jayegi." standing man replied without lifting his head.
"Thik hai ..... par yeh dhyaan rakhna, kal subah hote hi rajkumari waha nahi honi chahiye."
"Ji maharaj."
"Ab hum unhe yaha le aayenge aur unka vivah hone tak, unhe kahi nahi jane denge."
The other person went near him and said"Woh toh masum hai, kisika ghussa uspe mat nikalo."
"Nahi... Iss baar uhnone apni saari hadd paar kar di. Ab Bahot ho chuke unke laad pyaar, ab aur nahi." King looked determined. "Ab tum jao, aur iss baar kamayab hona hi hai hume." king ordered his informer and left.
There remained only two persons in the court.
Informer was about to leave when the other one said "Ruko tum." Informer stopped and turned towards him.
"Delhi ki Yojna naakam karne ke liye jo bhi ho sakta hai karo." He went towards the edge of the dias."Jaan leni pade toh lo, par yeh hum kar rahe hai, iska pata kisi ko bhi nahi lagna chahiye."
"Bilkul aaise hi hoga." Informer said looking at the other.
"Woh ladki kaun hai woh, usse bhi....." he went near the throne.
"Mein samaj gaya." standing man stood in the relaxed position.
"Bahot acche, raste mein aaya hua koi bhi bachna nahi chahiye." saying this he moved his hands on the seat of the throne.
He turned back towards the informer "Aur agar khun-kharabe ka iljaam Delhi pe aaye toh," He smiled "khel mein aur bhi maja aayega."
That bald guy moved his hand on his hairless head and smiled "Ji jaisa aap chahte hai, waisa ho sakta hai."
"Bahot achhe" He hiccupped. "Hamare aur delhi ke bich lagi iss chingari ko hum sholay ka roop denge." It appeared that he was talking to himself.
He sat on the throne, rolled his wild eyes through the hall as if fully assembeled court is waiting for his order and he dropped the king chessmen on the ground. He looked to his left and touched the arm of throne and patted it.
"Aur inn bhadke hue sholon mein koi nahi bachega,..... koi nahi, naa yaha ka koi, naa Delhi aur nahi Maharaj Prithviraj Chauhan."
He laughed loudly and more loudly and his laughter echoed in the palace. Gust of wind again came in through single the open window, wiping off flames in the lamps. Again the silence spread with the darkness.
There was no silence anywhere. Though more than half the day was over, everyone's spirits were high in Santoshi maa's utsaav.
Prithvi made many rounds and brought boxes of decoration materials, mats, desks and many things. He, Arjun, Pundir, Payal along with few more, were again loaded with some more work. And Sanyogita, it was quite appearent that she was babbling around and tailing Prithvi. However, this time she was trying to ask him, what he mean by "Apni safai mein kuch kehne ka mauka hi nahi diya."
At one point of time, when everyone slowed down, Prithvi got a chance to escape, but he was stopped by the pandit who asked him to complete the decoration of the door, which led inside, where Santoshi maa's idol was kept. Suddenly girls lingering around showed activeness to help him, but Sanyogita asked them to mind their own work. Some women and pandit then asked Sanyogita to go and help Prithvi and she did not hesitate. Everyone again jokingly warned these two, not to fight or stare each other and complete the work in time. Prithvi thought better to keep quite.
"Bolo maa Santoshi ki........Jai......." People started coming out of the hall. Pravachan was over.
Those teenage girls were staring in Sanyogita and Prithvi's direction, cracking jokes and laughing among themselves. Prithvi accidentally looked at them and those girls as if waiting for him to turn, smiled at him, waving hands. Prithvi smiled back at them with an embarass look.
"Kaha lagana hai yeh?" Sanyogita tried to distract him.
"aaaa .....Yaha" Prithvi pointed at one nail. "Tum isse pakdo mein yeh lagata hu." He fixed one garland. "Ab thik hai"
Sanyogita (In a calmed down tone): "Ha....., aur yeh?" picking up one lying on the ground.
Prithvi: "Jara rukna." Prithvi took hammer and started hitting nail in the doorframe.
"Prithvi?" said Sanyogita very slowly.
"Kya?" Prithvi asked striking hammer.
Sanyogita hesitated but when he looked at her she asked "Tum kya keh rahe the, …….woh tumhe kaunsa mauka nahi....." Giggling of girls and their stupid jokes were even more audible now and it again distracted Prithvi.
"Prithvi?" said Sanyogita, when again he turned in the direction of noise.
"Ha....." He gave one stroke of hammer on the nail. "aaaaaaa" He hit his finger accidentally. Blood came out.
"Prithviiiiii....." Sanyogita screamed dropping the garland and moved close to him. She held his hand. Prithvi felt her touch so soft and warm. She raised his finger and was about to suck the blood by her mouth, when one girl passed by and shouted with giggle, "Yeh dono toh phir se shuru ho gaye." Laughter spread.
Prithvi did not like their behaviour. He wished, he could tell them that he is a king and if his sainiks were there with him, through them he could have easily ordered those girls to leave them alone.
"Rehne do" saying this he released his hand from her and sucked the blood, holding finger in his mouth for sometime.
He heard Payal shouting at those girls,
"….. chedne hi wale the, ke tum logon ne sab gadbad kar di. Ab …..jao …..." And some bickering noise followed her words. Prithvi did not care to know what she was saying.
"Woh haar dena." Prithvi said to sanyogita without looking at her. She picked the garland and gave him.
They did not say anything and were busy concentrating on the comments from others around. Pundir went there.
Pundir: "Lakshman, yeh kaam hote hi waha aana, tumhe Payal bula rahi hai."
Payal's name gave a pinch to Sanyogita.
Sanyogita: "Pundir, Payal se keh do aapna kaam khud kare. Yeh uske isharon pe nahi nachega." Prithvi raised his eyebrows at Sanyogita.
Pundir: "Ha woh khud toh kar rahi hai, bas thodi madat chahiye usse..."
Sanyogita: "Toh tum ho naa, tum jao, Prithvi ke piche kyun padi hai woh?"
Pundir smiled. "Ab yeh me kya janu, Prithvi ko hi pata hoga."
Prithvi (quickly): "Mujhe kya pata?"
Pundir: "Waise tumne thik kaha uske bare mein, woh har tarah se layak hai."
"Maine aaisa kab kaha? Yeh toh tumne hi uski tarif mein kaha tha, mujhe yaad hai." Prithvi was wondering why all of a sudden Pundir is talking like this.
Pundir: "Ha... Par tum yeh toh keh rahe the naa, badi bahadurr hai woh..."
Prithvi (confused again): "Ha woh kyunki, jis tarah kal woh talwar leke ladi hai....."
Sanyogita: "Hum bhi toh lade un logon se...." before Prithvi completed praising Payal.
Prithvi saw kind of innocence in her, when she spoke and she was the same like his nandini in yatra, who always asked him to thank her or apologize and when he did not, she quarelled with him.
Prithvi: "Tum ladi?"
Sanyogita: "Ha"
Pundir turned back, Arjun and Payal were calling him back "Lagta hai mujhe ab nikalna chahiye..... mujhe hi Payal ki madat karni hogi." he left and gave them space.
It seemed as if they did not hear him.
Prithvi: "Achha, Par maine toh tumnhe waha khai mein latakte dekha." in a naughty tone.
Sanyogita: "Toh kya hume shauk hai waha khud jake latakne ka, hum gir gaye, tumhare aane se pehle hum lad rahe the."
"Toh tum talwar uthana……... aaaa...mera matlab hai, chalana sikh gayi?"
"Ha... Payal ne sikhaya."
Prithvi (in a musical tone): "Payal ne........"
"Matlab hum dono ne ek dusre ko sikhaya." said Sanyogita very quickly.
Smile spread on Prithvi's face. He felt so happy that she was talking normally with him.
"Tum hass kyun rahe ho?"
"Aur tum kabse ghusse mein kyun ho?" asked Prithvi grinning.
"Tumhare kaaran."
"Maine kya kiya?"
"Aaisa nahi ke chup chap yaha se chal diye..... yaha reh kar dost banate ghum rahe ho."
"Dost?"
Payal and Arjun giggled. "shhhhh....." Pundir asked them to keep quite. Tilting their head from behind a pillor, they were watching prithvi and Sanyogita.
"Tumhe kya laga hume kuch pata nahi chalega."
"Ab Kya pata chala tumhe?"
"Bahot kuch. Hum jante hai, tum hume tang karne ke liye yeh sab kar rahe ho par,....."
"Kya?"
"Par hum bata dete hai, iska humpe koi aasar nahi hoga."
"Yeh tum kya keh rahi ho?"
"Tum Payal se dosti badhao, ya un pagal ladkiyon se, hume kya?"
"Kya? Yeh tumse kisne kaha?"
"Payal ne."
"Payal......" Prithvi looked around to find Payal. Payal quickly moved her head behind a pillor and laughed. He looked back at Sanyogita.
"Main kisise koi dosti nahi bada raha hu." Then he thought "Jara tukna.....par tumhe isse kya? Mein kuch bhi karu."
"Yehi toh hum keh rahe hai, hume tumse koi lena dena nahi hai."
"Ha toh jao naa phir, apna kaam karo." He pointed his hand in one direction showing her the way.
"Hume nahi jana kahi."
"Sach mein" Prithvi took a deep breath confirming, that there is something really wrong with her. "Ladkiyon ko samajna bahot hi mushkil hai, aur tumhe samajna aur tumko samjhana....... toh naa mumkin hai."
"Ab toh tum yehi kahoge..... achhi dost jo mil gayi hai tumhe."
"Sanyogita ab bas bhi karo.... Jungli billi...... Tum sach mein ek jungli billi ho."
"Aur tum, tum kya ho......... Bigde raiij.....ek bigde raiij jo....."
"Bigde raiij ….Jungli billi"
"Jungli billi….. Bigde raiij ….. likhti rehna…….aur tum aate rehna….."
With these familiar words, memories of the days spend together, rolled over them.
Sanyogita literally forgot, she was supposed to hate him, forget him, ignore him who tried to kill her father. Instead, she was getting more close to him, squabbling with him as if everything is fine between them. Always a question popped up in her mind, why she is involving herself in Prithvi's matter? She felt like crying when she did not find any answer. "Prithvi ne sabke samne hamara aapmaan kiya......." She remembered her father being hurt. She again made her mind "Ab bas, ab aur nahi."
None of them opened their mouths for few minutes then, without looking at prithvi
Sanyogita silently said: "Tum Chale jao yaha se. Hume tumse koi baat nahi karni."
Prithvi was hearing these words from her for the forth time. He felt so irritate. With anger on his face he said "Tum ab lagti kaun ho meri jo mein tumhari baat maan lu?"
He did not wish to say anything further but his frustation came out.
"Mere se har rishta tum tod chuki ho naa, phir kyun meri zindagi mein dakhal de rahi ho?" She kept quiet. Her eyes were filled with tears.
"Jab tak mera kaam ho nahi jata, mein yaha se nahi jaunga. Tumhe jo samajna hai samaj lo."
He felt sudden anger rising in him. He knew this was due to his failure. His failure of explaining her that he was innocent each time when she concluded that he betrayed her.
"Aur ha..... mein tumse nahi balki, har baar tum mujhse baat karne ki koshish kar rahi ho. Ab mein tumse ek baat kehta hu 'Mujhse Dur Raho'."
Saying this he left the temple as fast as he could, without turning back and knowing what her expressions were. Because he perfectly knew, she was crying and he just could not see her crying.
Payal: "Arey.....yeh toh sach mein gussa ho gaya.....lo gayi bhains pani mein."
Pundir: "Hum unhe mila rahe hai, ya unme aur duri paida kar rahe hai?"
Payal (sadly): "Pata nahi."
Pundir: "Jitna humne socha tha, yeh kaam utna aasan nahi hai." Shaking his head.
Payal: "Ab kya hoga?" her faced dropped.
Arjun: "Kyun Payal, itni jaldi haar maan li." in a teasing tone.
Payal: "Hume haar nahi mani, hum aakhir tak koshish karenge. Bas ab aage kya karna hai samaj mein nahi aa raha."
Arjun: "Dekho, humne Sanyogita mein toh jalan paida kar di, hai naa, .....ab Prithvi ki bari."
"Matlab?" asked Pundir and Payal together.
Arjun: "Matlab ...... ab hume ek bakre ki talash hai."
"Bakra....."
Arjun: "Ha (looking from Payal to Pundir).....Aai baat samaj mein?"
Payal: "Ha....." Her worried face glowed up. "Toh… toh tum dono mein se koi....."
Arjun: "Nahi.....kyun ki jab Prithvi puchega Arjun kaha hai, ya Pundir kaha hai, tab?"
Payal: "Toh thik hai..... tum dono yahi ruko, mein kisi ko pakad ke lati hu."
Saying this she ran out as a super fast bullet.
Pundir: "Kisko..........? Ruko toh.....Payal."
Arjun gave sarcastic look in Payal's direction: "Tumhe kya lagta hai, yeh kya karegi?"
Pundir: "Kuch keh nahi sakte......pagal hai." He blushed instantly.
Arjun looked at him with raised eyebrows.
Pundir noticed that and made his face normal and asked him rudely "Kya hua?"
Arjun: "Nahi, Kuch nahi."
