I think they may have meant him to be a villain initially but after all the brick bats RMJ team got in the past few months, they will come up with some absurd way to justify Adi and make him a good guy especially to have a happy ending

I too am curious to see what they will do

I believe his intension was to find Ketki Masi and the mystery of his own birth. He wanted to know how his Moti baa was related to Gandhi family. I don't think he was spying on Mona.
