They both went into the dark room, Pratigya seeing dim lights felt a little uneasy.
"you ok?" he asked looking to his side, where she was quite close, she nodded pretending she was fine.
"Krishna haven't seen you in here in a long time, business must not be that busy" Krishna chuckled "I wish, no actually I have made some free time today, otherwise business is booming as always. The manager of the bar nodded, and who is this pretty girl does Preeti ma'am know he joked. "haha very funny" said Krishna. Pratigya didn't know what to say she was feeling a little out of place, she had been to some bars with her friends but this one seemed a little too lavished for her, it had a huge dance floor, the seats looked like sofa's and the interior was royally grand. The Manager left with a friendly nod Krishna turned to her, he waved his hand forward as in a lady's first being a gentlemen, "after you ma'am" Pratigya smiled at him and went forward.
"Hey" said a girl cutting in front and hugged Krishna. Krishna hugged her back.
"Shefu long time yaar how have you been?"
"me I've been right here dude its you who hasn't come for long time na"
"well today I brought some company with me this is Pratigya" Shefali gave Pratigya a genuine smile.
"Hi Pratigya"
"Hi" said Pratigya in a small voice. She looked up at Krishna, she didn't know anyone here except for him "Pratigya me and Shefali's sister use to study together in Harvard. "uh hmm.. friends? From what I recall you both were a bit more.." Krishna looked down..
"aree what are you saying that's all in the past now she is happily married" he said looking at Pratigya, why he did that he didn't know,
"yeah he is right she is" Shefali looked at Krishna and then to Pratigya including her in the conversation. Anyway how is Shelu?" Pratigya listen and nod even thought its boring but maybe it will impress Krishna?'
"Arrey actually her and Rohit are both here" "what Mumbai mein?"
"right now there in Dehli but in a few days they are coming here. Krishna smiled he was happy to hear this. "Anyway how is Preeti and little Siya?"
"She is fine and Siya she is an Angel as always right Pratigya?" Pratigya nodded this was a common fact they both could talk on..
"It was great to see you Krishna, maybe we can all catch up when Sheela and Rohit are down?"
"sounds great keep me posted"

"ya you too" Sheela left them to it. " come" he smiled.. she nodded, they went further into the bar, it was blazing with loud music. They walked through a crowd a lot of guys were about, Pratigya adjusted her dupatta.. as she walked she slowly went behind Krishna, he could sense her feeling, and he felt her hand cling slightly to his arm. "it's ok" he took her hand and walked with her through the crowd. All of a sudden the lights went dimmer. oh no' thought her mind' "it's gone dark?" she said as she struggled to walk with him. "It's ok, li... she felt a tug in the crowd and what she feared happened she lost grip of Krishna's hand. oh no it went pitch dark' Pratigya?" he turned and tried to find her. "Krishna?" she called. oh shit its pitch dark and she is scared of it I know it, she must be panicking.. I must find her' He rushed through the crowd, Pratigya could see flashes of her past and she just needed to get out of there, finally the light near the entrance was coming into her view, She rushed further she was frantic, she needed to breath. Krishna kept following he couldn't find her where can she be I'm at end of the bar.. maybe she is..' with that thought he came to the entrance and exited out of there, he looked around and there she was tears streaming down her face, frightened lost little lamb. She saw him, oh go he going to think I'm such a weirdo. He came towards. get ready Pratigya to give a good explanation.. oh hold on he is comforting me?' she felt relieve as he took her into his arms, her face against his chest, his one hand behind her and his other hand rubbing the side of her head. "shh, I'm sorry I didn't know what I was thinking bringing you here" Now she was feeling bad for the way she behaved. "No sir it's.."
"No Pratigya I knew the darkness scares you and I .." Krishna genuinely felt bad, and she felt bad him this really isn't his fault she thought. "Sir, I'm fine now" she looked up, he removed his arms. She quickly wiped her tears. "see, uhh.hm.i'm fine" she smiled. "This day was suppose to be special" he sighed. He looked up with his hands in pockets, she could clearly see he was still blaming himself. " can I suggest something?" "sure,yes! Anything that will make this day better" he was happy to hear her talk again and that too with a suggestive tone. "let's go on the beach and just go for a nice walk?"
"anything you want it's your birthday" he smiled.. "come" she nodded and they both began to walk towards the car, both were a little quiet in the car but then Krishna realise something "it's getting dark you sure beach is a good idea?"
"yah it's not all darkness just pitch black I can't handle.."
"oh ok I see.. beach has moonlight na?"
"exactly" she smiled and he exchanged a sweet smile with her too, then he turned the car parking up. "where here" they unbuckled their seatbelts. Both came out of the car. "come" he said, she nodded and they walked together towards the beach. Pratigya spotted a man selling chana buy your chanas.. "chana I love them" she squeeled like a child. "sir have you had these type of chana?"
"no.. I'm not really fond of street food.." he replied.
"seriously?"
"yeah but you want?" oi bhaiya can we get one..
"no.."
"what I thought you like them?"
Ya I do but I will buy if you eat them too otherwise I don't want.. she said folded her arms making a stand. "ok fair enough but only because it's your day and I wanted it to be special"
"great" she said with a wide grin
"bhaiya give us two" she said to them, "how much?" she was shocked at the price.
"aree kya bhaiya I will not pay more than 10.rs"
"It's ok Pratigya I will pay for it.."
"no sir he is ripping us off, to other lot he is charging less and to us more that's not right."
"really believe me ma'am it's not like that"
"no! we will not pay 25 rs for this forget it we don't want" she turned her back to him, Krishna went to Pratigya "but I thought you wanted they are your favourite.." she whispered to him "he won't let us just watch..
"ok ma'am 10 rs" she smiled to Krishna.. and turned back "deal" she took her money out and paid for it. "sir this is on me.." before Krishna could say anymore she already gave the money.
"not done Pratigya I wanted to pay for it. She shook her head.
"Listen how did you know?" he was seriously impressed with her skills.
"sir he was trying to cheat us, and I have plenty of experiencing in haggling.. "Here" she handed a newspaper wrapped up cone with nuts in it.
"I'm impressed" he smiled.
"koi baat nai" she smiled already throwing her third nut in her mouth.. Krishna held it as if he wasn't sure what to do with it "if your really impressed then try it"
"oh ya.." she watched him as she chewed, he took a nut and threw it in his mouth but it missed. She laughed through her noise "I'm not good at this you also expert in this too?" she giggled at his comment.
"your having street food for first time don't worry you will slowly learn here" she threw one at him and that he caught in his mouth.
"see, you did it" she smiled. "yay!"
"yes from now on you feed me them you are doing a much better job" he chuckled, they both shared a giggle. They walked from there and Krishna occasionally took a nut and ate the normal way. He watched Pratigya throw like her 10th nut in her mouth, she looked nice doing it.. Pratigya does talk when given the chance, at home she feels restricted.. hmm probably Preeti being that issue' They finished the nuts.
"let's sit and enjoy the view" said Krishna as he sat down with her on a bench. She turned to him. "did you like the chana's?" she asked with eager eyes. she has a cute smile' he thought as he nodded. " Hmm thank you for introducing me to them"
"no problem sir anytime you want to try any new street food tell me I will get for you"
"hmm I will hold you to that"
"sure, sure" she nodded and looked down at her hands.. it went silent, am I running out of things to say.. come on sir say something' He looked at her, staring at the ocean view, with her hands in her lap. come and Krishna just ask her'
"Pratigya?"
"hmm?" she said catching him off guard. "can I ask you something.. you don't have to answer if it's too much"
"sir we are good friends na ask me anything" she smiled, her eyes waiting for his burning question.
"ok.. ahem.. he came closer and put his hands over hers holding them on her lap. "why are you scared of the dark?" she lost her smile, her mouth fell slightly open.
"umm.. I.." come on Pratigya tell him, he is asking with so much care and you are running away maybe its time to let someone in.. even Ayush you didn't tell him..
"ok I will tell you it's a sensitive issue but I trust you so I will tell you, but even I have a question can you give me an answer"
" of course I can whatever it is?"
"why did you marry so young?" he took his hands away, and scratched his forehead.
"oh you want to know this of all things.. ok its not secret we are not a match made in heaven. I married young well.. that is a long story in nutshell, I got married to Preeti because of my dadi, it was short notice. Actually after studies I settled in US for a bit then I got a call that mum and dad passed away in a car crash"
"oh.. sir I'm so sorry to hear that"
"ya, it was hard, dadi has been great, actually dadi more or less bought me up I was close to maa and a lot though, dad and I we had our differences but even then I loved them both.. miss them every day. Pratigya could see it was hard for him, she rubbed his hand. "ok back to Preeti, I knew her from a long time had a tiny crush on her too but then I found out she was already with someone even after our marriage.. we don't have a marriage I only married her because of dadi that reason I can't say, but yeah we are not in love far from it.. wow I haven't told anyone this but something tells me I can trust you" he said with a half smile.
"of course you can" she squeezed his hand. I knew it its not my imagination Preeti and his relation is fake' she was dancing with happiness inside'
"ok darling now your turn" he called me darling why.. is it the first time?.. Pratigya focus!'
"ok.. so um, when I was young maybe around 8yrs of age, life was really nice you know I had my parents, mum was carrying my sister"
"was? your mum is no more?"
"no.. she's not I um have step mum but she's um its not the same.." he nodded. He could sympathise with her. "do continue"
"ok let me start from now, right now I have my papa who is the best in the world, I have stepmum she is ok.. and my two brother's Mohan and Kirtan I love them they are my stepmum's kids but for me they are my baby brothers. She smiled.
"I would like to meet them sometime, you can bring them over one day when you come to babysit.
"I can try but my step mum is a difficult issue.." oh just like Preeti is mine' he thought.
"ok so your actual mum..
"yeah she.. I was 8yrs at the time looking for mum, we had a brief black out and.. and I was playing hide and seek with her, I remember that morning she made me my favourite almond kheer and said. Pratigya looked the corner when speaking remembering that day. " Pari maa made your favourite kheer and today I will spend time with only you." She sniffed and then looked back at Krishna "because other days she was resting but that day she said that she wanted to spend time with only me because I'm her special girl" she laughed mixed emotions going through her mind, "but then one minute mum was hugging me and then 20 minutes later we ha-had a black out, at the time papa was at work.. her voice started to break. Well done Krishna you have given a great birthday of tears' He held her hands. She sighed, tyrying to push her tears back "and then I stumbled I-i didn't know where, then the lights came on.. and i-" the tears started to stream..
"It was her?" she nodded, looking up with her tears streaming down her face.
"there, on the floor lifeless.. I didn't know what to do, I didn't even understand what was happening, I tried to ring papa, but it was too late. oh god she was that young and had to witness such awful thing. "that explains why your afraid of the dark"
"till this day, when ever it goes pitch dark it brings it all back I can't handle it, I can just see her lying on the floor". she broke down in tears, he heard her loud sobs..
"oh god" he pulled her forward and comforted her. their legs were facing straight thigh touching in seating position on the bench but her upper body was angled to his. Her cheek rested on his right shoulder, his right hand rubbed the back of her head.. with his free hand he patted her upper back. "shh.. I'm here na" both her arms were around his neck hugging him tight. Her elbows pointing outwards and slightly resting on his shoulder blades. "I'm sorry I didn't mean for you to relive everything" he said whilst comforting her.
"Life hasn't been far ..shhh its ok.." She felt secure in his arms, she didn't know why but a safe feeling was there. "you know the dark can be a beautiful thing too.. his tone softened she sniffed.. "uhh really?" she lifted her head from his shoulder to face him. Her hands slipped from around his neck to her palms resting flatly on his upper chest at both sides. "yeah.." his one hand was now softly caressing her upper arm, she could feel it burn her even through her salvar.. whilst the other hand wiped the tear from her right eye, Their eyes were in a magnetic eye lock " magical thing.." he said in a low soft tone while he brushed a loose hair strand and tucked it behind her left ear. Her gaze dropped to his lips glistening in the moonlight , and he noticed it just as his own gaze feel on her inviting pink ones. Her lips parted involuntarily, his throat felt dry, he drew his head close to her, "magical?"
"shh" he replied.. coming closer, his hand slipped behind her neck his fingers caressing her soft nape.. Pratigya was in a trance, sir was this close to her? She closed her eyes, she looks so pretty in the moonlight' his mind reflected. "like this." he whispered.. their noses touched sensuously, he parted his lips to her already parted ones, he rubbed his bottom lip to her top one, making her sigh. a connection' he whispered as he enveloped his mouth over her bottom lip, she found her lips do the same to his top one, they suckled on each other's lips sharing their first kiss. She forgot everything all she could feel was the wonderful feeling of being in his arms.

Across the complex two women were watching. "I told you Sharda that is Pratigya.

" I have seen many times she comes and gets out a man's car"
"she is working for him or what?"
"yes it seems that, but he always drops her off late and today you saw her with the expensive brand bag, it seems she is offering more than just her work.
"what do you mean?"
"do I need to spell it out, it's typical she is luring a rich man into her bed watch when I see Kaushaliya tomorrow I will tell her exactly what I have seen, she has good reason to keep Pratigya away from her sons, she's clearly a bad influence. Both women agreed and walked away.
