what is that word they use for "wife" ?

something like "mehraalu"

its used a lot, for example "apni mehraalu ko kamre mein leyi jao"

does anyone know?? and what language/dialect is it from?

i think its alahabadi language

mehhraru = wife

mehraru means wife...the word probably originated from the root 'mehr' which stands for money that the bridegroom promises to pay to the bride in muslim tradition of nikah...but now the word has been indianized & hence used by all...

Wife=Mehraroo

MOm=Mahatari

Daughter In Law=Patoh

if any one have any problem in understanding the language ask me i will tell you i am from Allahabad and this is my language.I love my all forum member bcoz they are not from Allahabad but they understand Allahabadi so well.
