Yesterday, in between all the drama about Kesar not being able to ever conceive again, Shakti Singh spoke the truth. Perhaps for the first time in his life. I cannot remember the exact words now but he said to SS that you used to beat our mother up, did you ever think whether baba or I will die...or to some effect.
My point is, this was a powerful dialogue. Why did the CVs hide it amongst all the other things going on? it was almost a throwaway comment. This was something if done differently would have made a big impact on the audience, especially those who do go around beating their womenfolk up.
I've mentioned this before, and say it again, when shows depict certain reality, the onus of responsibility lies on the writer to show the whys and wherefores. In this case, we have seen an abusive family and by all indication their behaviour is historical, a cycle through each generation. None of us is blind to the fact, certain messages are shown and given.
So last night, they touched briefly on the fact that abuse is a cycle, passed from one generation to another. An innocent child watching his mother beaten daily, accepts it as the norm. He grows up and beats his own wife. He took it further, he ensured he beat his wife till she miscarried each and every time she became pregnant. I'm saying he took it further because we never heard SS beating his wife when she was pregnant though Shakti's words indicate otherwise. The sad thing is, often the next generation will take the abuse to another level. If Shakti had had a child, then that child growing up would most likely abuse his own wife, perhaps even killing her.
I want to know why didn't the CVs had a scene where Shakti said these words, then show SS's reaction (beside the brief hand throwing yesterday), maybe give a fumbling response, show Thakurain's reaction and the others. They could have expanded it with more, Shakti saying I knew no better because to me it was normal to beat a wife. Then he could have said, but since I saw baba with his wife, I realised there is another way.....and etc.
This would have been a powerful scene indeed, lingering on the thoughts of the masses well after the episode had finished.
What a waste of a very good dialogue.

As powerful a statement as it was, I agree it should have at the least shown Amma's response to it. SS was in no place to accept his faults and take stock of his life. Krishna had just told him point blank that his anger at Prats was unfounded, biased based on his prejudice against her. KN throws the truth at him and he bends over a man weighed by the his past.

I found some wonderful quotes that aptly described the emotional state of each of the Takurs in y'day's episode. I see KN as using it to defend himself from a maha prasad on the one side an take a cue from Krishna to state the reality of the situation on the other. He was trying to protect himself from SS's wrath. He spoke the truth but his dark mind was exposed when he didn't step up to save his wife. He was actually angry that Prats saved her. Is it too late to expect there is any goodness left in him or is it so deeply buried that there is still hope.

Krishna has to be a strong person to withstand all the pressure of becoming like one of them and fights to save his soul. Good for him!

It is what you see beta😆. One person thought it looked like a womb (they don't know about MKAP storyline). My sisters think it looks like a deep dark hole. A friend that it was a dark rock in an ocean, another thought it was a black hole in outer space.

My paintings predict the upcoming story in a way. I painted this two days ago and y'day episode showed up.

I just wish this speech was done in an episode that then had time to show reactions and the sequel of such dialogue. Really feel like it was wasted. It would have been nice to see if SS is made to think about the values he had passed on to his eldest and then to regret it.
It really burns me, none of the Thakurs grieved for that baby or for the mother, who now has to bear infertility for her life.
I want remorse from SS for the lesson he passed on.

That was the lowest of the low shakti, can go😡 one of the weakest excuse an abuser can come up with. I so wish for SS, to hit him....Two brothers (Shakti & Krishna), grew up in the same home how different they are. Shakti, hate kesar, if his father would have love his wife and not beat her, shakti still would have been an abuser.

Mia,
Children who witness abuse do actually grow up to become the abuser or the abused. It is a statistical fact that many will be pre-disposed and therefore need help, but , there are some lucky one's who do manage to break the cycle. In this case, it is Krishna and perhaps Komal as well.
Shakti, by his very nature is pre-disposed to being violent. I'm not making excuse for him at all. As far as he was concerned, he did no wrong because he saw his father doing it to his mother. That is so sad. People in real life, like him, rarely think they are being wrong and therefore shun all help.
My reason for the topic was to highlight an important dialogue that got buried amongst high drama. I really wish that the Cvs had dedicated an episode to this, where Shakti makes his speech and then we see everyone's reaction and what they do. It would have been very powerful. Abuse takes all forms and shapes, many people unaware that their behavior is abusive. Children do pick up on it, an episode such as this would have made people think twice about their actions in front of their children.
