Sorry, disagree! 😊
First and fore-most no storyteller has a moral obligation. If they claim one, as in this case they have, then it is up to them to chart the course for the character's and stories to develop so that the 'message' is conveyed.
An ACTOR is absolutely absolved of any moral alleigence with a character and has absolutely NO obligation/need to defend either the logic or the morality of their roles.
I could perhaps understand if her questions were directed at getting some insight into the motivations of the character's, but Anna's questions were directly related to the 'rightness' and 'logic' of the content of the show. No good artist looks at a role and says "oh! but this is a bad person" how can I play her?
Most actors are most expressive only in their art ie acting, they say what they have to say through that medium. Many would find it difficult to express the same character in words, but I can understand how fans may want to hear some words from them about their unique insider view of the character. But to ask an actor to defend his role is plain stupid and attack him for what his on-screen character does is just bad journalism.
I've played Lady Macbeth twice. Where would I go if someone asked me, "but how can you, don't you know she was a 'bad lady'? "

Thanks for the link.

Some of the questions were bit silly about clothes and all. The question in regards to kidnapping was explained to the best of their knowledge but it felt that the interviewer was not satisfied by their explanation until she received the answer she was looking for, I feel. This is bad interviewing technique by allowing her ego to enter the arena. She should be detached from it all and play a neutral role.

I personally dont get why she went all guns blazing when she is clearly an entertainment interviewer. The show is a source of entertainment for most where creative license is used. If she really feels so strong on this matter of purity then she should hold a debate where she can bring ppl of different walks of life l(politicians and women rights groups) and hopefully she would find her answer from that. I mean politicians are not grilled to this extent.

Purity is an issue which affects most men (educated and uneducated) and as they said it depends on the mentality of the individuals on whether to believe or prove it or vice versa.

😆 but i never said if a character is bad one shouldnt play it
i am saying they atleast should know why is there character acting the way it is
i wont debate if anna asked motivations or logic but the fact remaisn the same that they couldnt answer about THIER characters.
my theater teacher always explained me the every motivation of the character before i couldnt play anything

Steff,
I did not say that YOU said that a person should not take up a negative role. I know enough by what you have written that you admire the actors who play the Thakurs very much!😃
It is Anna who asked for logic and 'moral clarifications'. She did not ask for motivations. If she had even I would have loved to listen to the answers. The poor people were trying to give her the thought process of their characters. For instance Parvati was very clear in expressing motivations. But Anna was not looking for insights she was asking for defence. And why should an actor 'defend' his character?
How silly to ask Anupam Shyam if he does not feel bad about his behavior? Why ask the actor to state that he will change? Is he a charcter artist or a real life villian?

yes this question was weird but i dont think if she asked Komal about her character and logic behind its character was wrong or to ask krishna and pratigya about the angad track. she even said she is talking to characters and not actors. its my personal opinion no offense meant cheers😃
