Mother-daughter duos on KWK - article

This Sunday, Koffee with Karan will play host to the mother daughter duos, Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Nanda, and Hema Malini and Esha Deol.

Interestingly, we are told that one of the highlights of this episode will be Jaya and Hema openly disapproving of Ram Gopal Varma's remake of the classic, Sholay.

A source from the Star One show informs us that even after the shoot got over, both Jaya and Hema had Sholay on their mind.

"Throughout the show they kept wondering how the new Sholay was going to turn out. Karan too enjoyed what they had to say," says the source.

Crazy kiya re

During one of Karan's posers, he asked Jaya about her feelings on Ramu remaking Sholay (she played Radha in the original).

To this, Jaya replied, "Why are you asking me this question? I'm already in trouble with Ram Gopal Varma and Amitabh Bachchan."

She later added that while coming out of Parliament, a member of the press had asked her if Sholay should be remade and her answer was a resounding, 'No!'

Hema Malini too supported Jaya's point of view in her typical sardonic style, saying, "It can be seen again and again… not made again and again!"

Karan then asked the two ladies what they felt about their characters Basanti and Radha being revived on screen. To which Hema Malini wittily replied, "I think these two characters should not be there in the film!"

Jaya had a different solution. "Change our characters' names."

When Karan finally asked them if they would watch the film, Jaya said, "I will have to see it. I have no choice!"
