1. First we were made to think that there was something really fishy with Farhan visiting the red light areas. Nikhat had to go into sleuth mode right soon after the sleeping beauty pills given by hubby dearest wore off. The wedding left Nikhat with a hangover headache trying to solve the careless clues of the wet hoodie and muddy shoes.
2. Next we were told that bad-boy Farhan was really a good boy after all, he was visiting the Tawaifs (prostitutes) only to interview them about the wherabouts of tha-wife Samira.
3. Having redeemed Farhan's character, we were again focusing on a frightened Ms Nikhat Marple, who was being "haunted" repeatedly by Samira.
4. Throughout this process from 1-3, Nikhat was constantly being put down by Hasina, and her observations and hunches were being invalidated. She was being made to feel like she was going insane.
5. Then came out the fact that Samira was not a bhoot after all, but very much alive, being kept imprisoned and beaten in the basement by Hasina. How this Samira keeps escaping, although the door is kept locked, do not ask, dear friends. Just take leave of your senses and know that somehow this is possible.
6. After one of these close escapades by the locked up Samira, a frantic Hasina places a call to her partner in crime, Chand, who is summoned immediately to "finish the job" they started, namely to finish off Samira.
7. Again, more-of-the-same with Nikhat being haunted by an alive Samira, and being repeatedly discredited and invalidated by Hasina, who is up to her usual tricks of substituting fevicol for condensed milk, and pouring water over herself and blaming Nikhat for it.
8. Finally today we have Hasina's resolve to demonstrate that Nikhat is insane very quickly so that her raaz remains a raaz. This really got my goat, because Nikhat at this point does not enjoy any credulity whasoever from the family members. Even Najma, who always was by her side has started to suspect her motives. Farhan already suspects Nikhat of being full of notions and being excitable. Therefore my question is what is the point of declaring Nikhat insane, when no one is believing her anyway? What happened to Hasina's plan of "offing" Samira with Chand's help?
9. If Nikhat is declared insane, will Farhan divorce her or send her back to her parents' house? Is that the way the plot will proceed? Or is there a slim chance that in the process of demonstrating that Nikhat has gone bonkers, Hasina will fall into her own trap and be exposed? However this plays out, what will happen to Samira? Will Nikhat have to make way so that Farhan can be with her?
This is getting so boring, and is a big contrast to the exciting developments at SM with Razia's face being revealed. I think the CVs should find a way to be done with this creepy and ennui ridden track once and for all. Make Samira and Nikhat live together or not, I no longer care. Make Nikhat leave or make Samira go away, it does not matter. Better yet, make Hasina go away. This we would all like. But please, please do something. End this subplot which has become a potpurri of a nightmarish tale of horror, incredulity, and sheer boredom.
Thank you for reading this post. Comments appreciated.
BTW, where is Mubarak Qureshi, Hasina's husband, who is always MIA, absent? Is he locked up in another basement perhaps?
O dear, the post is nearly as lengthy as this plot. Apologies, but I had to get it out of my system.
