Salman Khan - Cyber Bully

Salman Khan is always news-worthy, whether or not he actually does anything. This year, though, Bhai was all over the news for things he had actually done. First, there was his hit and run case from 2002, in which he was formally charged with culpable homicide. Khan pleaded not guilty and a fresh trial was ordered. This case is a great example of how delays in courts can make a case seem irrelevant. Eleven years after the original incident, the facts are getting fuzzier than ever and the prime witness, constable Ravindra Patil, is dead.

A journalist and blogger had written about Patil and suggested the witness was pressured to change his story. This year, the blogger received "a communication" that "instructed" him to remove the blog posts pertaining to Khan and the hit and run case. It was clear that the writer felt threatened by Khan, who had suddenly taken on the avatar of a cyber bully.

Khan the bully was also in action later in the year when a group of fishermen lodged a complaint against Khan, saying he was trying to evict them from their village. They accused Khan of getting his bodyguards to set fire to the fishermen's boats, nets and houses. The fishing village was affecting the view from his newly-acquired sea-facing real estate, it seems. Khan clearly took this complaint far more seriously because he was seen inaugurating the Koli Mahotsav in November, with MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
