Bringing up daddy: Bakhtyaar Irani with Zianne and Tanaaz
What do Arun Nayyar and Bakhtyaar Irani have in common? Both are madly in love, got married recently and have embraced fatherhood by becoming best friends with their respective spouses' kids.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," says Bakhtyaar, a week after the grand reception.

Read on as the newly married actor talks about his transformation from boyfriend to husband, and now playing dad to Tanaaz's daughter Zianne.

How different is life after marriage?

That's a very difficult question to answer. The last few days have been anything but normal.

The wedding went exactly the way I had planned it. I always wanted it to be a grand affair. For me, it's a life-changing experience.

Both of us have gone through a lot to come to the position we are in today and exchange vows as husband and wife. It had to be the best marriage anyone has ever attended!

We heard you planned a series of surprises for Tanaaz at the wedding.

Yes. I had worked on it for weeks with my close friends. Tanaaz had no clue what I was going to do.

First, I made a small show reel of all our moments from the first time we met each other to our Nach Baliye days.

It looked like a cute home video with lots of sweet moments. She was totally stunned when I got the projector out and played it.

After that, I broke into an impromptu jig on Salaam-e-Ishq's title track. I wanted to dance for my wife and tell her how much I love her. It was my way of expressing everything I was going through at that moment.

What about the honeymoon?

There's just no time for that. At the moment, we are all busy working and rehearsing for my play, which opens on April 29.

Our honeymoon will definitely happen when we have the time. I am really excited about this play; it's something both of us have wanted to do for quite some time now.

I am a very impulsive person and I think the destination of our honeymoon will also be one big surprise!

We are family: Liz, Damien and Arun Nayyar
How does it feel being a husband and a father?

The day I fell in love with Tanaaz, I knew I wanted to marry her. There was no doubt in my mind. I knew she was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and have children with.

At the same time, I knew about Zianne and was always affectionate towards her. She's in her early teens now and it's a very sensitive age to be in.

In fact, on my wedding day, I wrote a little note to her on a card as a gift that said, "For me, my life revolves around Tanaaz, you and then whoever will be our child."

She calls me Bakhtyaar uncle and I am more a friend to her than anything. She's in the ninth standard right now and is doing really well in school.

Who is she closer to?

Of course, she is more open with Tanaaz than me. She likes to spend time with her mother whenever we are in town.

We are planning to try and get her to stay with us whenever possible. It will take time but I'm sure I too will become close to her.

When do you start a family of your own?

By God's grace, that shall happen when the time is right and both of us have enough time to support a newborn. I definitely want to have kids with Tanaaz, but it's too early to talk about it
