feeds the hurt with her life blood, weakened by hidden fire.
The hero's courage often returns to mind, and the nobility
of his race: his features and his words cling fixedly to her heart,
and love will not grant restful clam to her body.
-Virgil: Aeneid IV
The title translates as in the wake of fire. True its is! Words are only painted fire, a look is the fire itself! Your wildest dreams, your most irrational fears and most hated sight often take one form and haunt you day and night. It never is easy to cope especially when your head keeps denying every other aspect of your fears. Maamisa was right if fire destroys then it also translates into purity that binds two soul together, it translates into blessing that hawan kund holds and it also is a peace rendition of the glowing diyas, but as it is Paro fails to register any of it! She still reels over and over feels the wrath of it! Ironical it is for in the mythology Lordess Parvati had herself cursed fire that it shall destroy and this fragile human by the same name fears the very sight of it!
Paro is tormented but then her fears are trapped withing the fortress of her heart. You feel what she feels, see what sees, hear what she hears but you can never live what she lives. She is vulnerable but she has to keep pushing herself in and out of her shrouds. Sanaya perfectly embodies it and if I had liked her previously then I love her today!
Here I must take a break and applaud the makers! Its a mammoth task to keep drawing parallelism form mythology and toss and twist it so that it befits fiction. Parvati as we know is the consort to Shiva and Rudra one such manifestation of the Lord Supreme. It is very interesting to see the symbolism used so perfectly. Let me just take you back to Paro's dream. She saw silhouette of a man, who throws his covers and walk with the mighty sun as his witness. She sees steely eyes that didn't blink even once while setting fire to her form. I bow down to you creatives. Rudra or the Lord of Tempest walks, throwing his matted hairs in the air, the sun follows him and he breathes fire! I really was on the edge of my couch when I saw the entire scene. Does it ring a bell? Is it close enough? The makers have not left any stone unturned to make sure the fictionalize Maharudra!! And thats what adds to the charm of it all!
And finally enters Iago is the guise of Thakur sa! Iago is one such antagonist that you'd love to hate in true sense! He is a vile, venomous serpent! He spits fire and burns life. And if he is unable to do so then he makes sure that people writhe and writhe in pain. But even then he lets his demeanor betray he true self. However evil he might be within , his exterior speaks that of a true gentleman. He'll kill but his hands will never be dirty, he'll destroy but he'll always carry the pretext of a preceptor! He is one of the most screwed up villain and you better watch out for him!I am guessing I'll enjoy Tarun as Iago!!
Though the episode powerfully brought in the many dynamics that would change the course of time, my personal favorite remains the clash of imagery of that of Rudra and Parvati! While Parvati is happily anticipating of a colorful future amid colors of the temple, Rudra rides in a barren land sans joy or colors to drag Parvati into the thick of it! Unfold yourself Rangrasiya!!
P.S. I loved Sadia as Thakuraiin Masa! She is flawless as loving mother figure!
P.P.S. A very happy new year to all of you! Maye this new year bring new beginnings and new achievements for all of you!
