Chapter 11.2 :

At evening, Roshni discovered her fridge is barren. That fat Aunty emptied it. She made a quick dinner for Arjun & her. At dinner, Addu listened quietly his parents' conversation.

Arjun : So your plan failed.

Roshni : Hmm...it gone to dogs...

Arjun : And what happened here, it looks some tornado visited this place.

Roshni : (sighed) You saw nothing. When you came, I almost cleaned up this place. But when I saw..(shivered)..terrible.

Arjun : Thank god anyone wasn't hurt much..

Roshni : Who told you? You know how's that Aunty? I called for an ambulance, though her wounds are not deep, she had an hairline fracture in her ankle.

Arjun : (thinking) hmm...but actually what happened?

Roshni : pata ho toh bataungi na, I found my house was all messed up. But I can assume it's our baby Rawte ( looked at Addu). He maybe disliked her.

Arjun : Kuch vi, Roshni? Ittusa insaan woh pahaar jaisi Aunty ka halat kharab karr di!! How?!

Roshni : (worried) Wahi toh!! Yeh bara hoke kya karega? Arjun!

Arjun : ( After a long silence) so I assume you dropped the idea of going office.

Roshni : ( shook her head negatively) Nop.

Arjun : What?

Roshni : This project is doomed, Arjun.Agar avi kuch nahi kia, toh we've to drop this project.

Arjun : So, What've you decided?

Roshni : I'm joining tomorrow.

Arjun : (sprung up in surprise) What!! And Addu? Kamla kaki is not here Rosh...

Roshni : ( exhaled sharply) Toh iss Shaitaan ka kya karun...saath le jaungi.

Arjun looked at his wife with open mouth for a long time. Roshni pushed his chin up.

Roshni : Muh band karo, isme hairan honewali koi baat nahi.

Arjun : (Gasped) Don't tell me Roshni, the Project Director of an International NGO aapni handbag main ek 3month old baby leke office jayegi. Aur jab Addu BoD meeting ke beech main rona shuru karegi tab tum usko khilaogi..

Roshni : If it is the only solution, then I ought to do it...And my Addu never gonna Scream at the middle of BoD meeting.

Arjun stared at Roshni with shocking eyes.

And Addu...did a summersault mentally. It's gonna be fun!!

Next day, Roshni entered her office with her big handbag and Addu's trolley. She put the trolley besides her table and started reading files. Addu was watching his moms office and her working. He started chewing his thumb (of his right leg) and observing everything. Roshni looked at his son occupied into his own world and started working.

Mom's office is a big place. When she entered, all sprinted to her and greeted. They also thanked her to join at the middle of her maternity leave ( I actually don't know what is this, maybe it's something for moms) followed by praising and fondling session on me. All gaped at me as if I'm some strange animal and said something about me like small, cute, alike mom or dad, It's irritating. Why people do with babies this thing? It's way too irritating. But among them a girl took me into her arms and asked mom for permission to give me a tour of the office, but mom denied.

Mom settled into her office and asked me to sit quietly when she was working, so I tried to understand what she as doing here.

Mom started reading files and asked someone to bring files of activities when she was not here. Within a moment, a mountain of files grew on her table, she called some people she handled the responsibilities and after sometime the whole place was noisy and alive.

After two hours, Roshni took a break for feeding Addu and then she went to see those people working in data entry room with Addu into her arms. The women working there made a cheerful scream seeing their very own Roshni mam there. Roshni greeted them with a smile.

Roshni :How's your work?

All became silent at once. Roshni moved her gaze over them and raised an eyebrow, then one started tell her problem. After she finished talking, another girl started but some other interrupted her, gradually all started talking in unison. Roshni immediately raised her hand to stop them.

Roshni : Ok.Ok...calm down, I know there is some problem.

All nodded.

Roshni : And now I'm here, so let's try to solve it, OK?

All cheered up and it was little louder. A child's cry was heared after that cheerful scream. Roshni looked at Addu, but it's not him. It's another baby.

Roshni : (confused) who is crying?

A young girl came forward with a baby.

Girl : My daughter, mam. I'm sorry. I won't bring her again.

Roshni let out a sigh. How can she tell another mother not to bring her child in office while she herself brought her son. And Addu seemed quite excited to see that baby. He tried to move to that baby and wriggled into her mother's arm.

Roshni : Ek minute Addu. I'm talking.

Girl : I've nobody al home to look after her. And she's too small for a day care...so.

Roshni : It's ok, any of you have similar problem?

Another women stood up with her son. And three other informed they kept their babies at home.

Roshni : With whom?

Different answers came from them. One left her child to her elder daughter, one to her mother and another to her sister.

Girl : Mam, two of us quitted the job, and three are on maternity leave, but we don't know if they'll return or not.

Roshni : Ok, from tomorrow, you all will bring your children. They'll stay at our day care.

Girl : But mam, our children are less than a year old. How can we left them in day care?

Roshni : I'm talking about our day care. I'll tell someone to prepare a room for these newborns, & one of us will look after them. Is it ok? & for now you two, come & keep your children into my room, with my son.

This time, the cheering sound was so loud that Addu and other two babies started crying in fright.

After an hour. Roshni's cabin.

A corner was cleaned and a soft carpet was placed there. that area was fenced with files. 6 babies were kept there. Including Addu. When everyone came to know Roshni's decision of keeping babies inside the office all appreciated that and three other babies were found in accounting and administration wing.

Six babies in one place is a eye candy. Babies found a bigger place to move and play. Some lied silently, some flipped and started looking around proudly, the bigger ones tried to move and roll. One rolled over another, one held another's leg, one was trying to chew another's ear, some tried to poke into other's nose, ...a hilarious view it was. From the MD of the organization to the security guard, all gathered around to see the babies and nobody was ready to move from there, they started giggle standing there.

Addu was having his gala time. It's always good to have people of our own kind. And here, he had five of them. First he flipped to have a good view of surroundings and found a baby moving to another lying one. He found a bigger one touched his cheek, and he tried to touch his nose; but it's too small. The baby rolled away to another and hit his hand. Addu moved to another baby and held it's hair while another baby tugged his leg. But Addu found the baby in front of his is more interesting as it started to move his hands, that took Addu's attention. He caught the hand and started chewing it's thumb.

Suddenly Roshni found a big mob gathered inside her room.

Roshni : What's happening here, koi film chal raha hain kya?

MD : Film, god!! It's more than a film.

Roshni : What film? Didn't you saw babies in your life. Sir? Kamse kam aap toh...

MD : Of course we saw babies. But ek saath chey ko chorne ke baad aisa mazaa aata hain, yeh toh pehli baar dehka hain!!

At the very moment a baby sat on another and tried to chew its nose. But he's too small and don't had teeth yet, it's quite difficult to bite something with gums, so he couldn't make it. But he carried on his efforts.

A round of laughter heard in the room, including MD and Roshni.

Roshni : ( in angry tone) Now, that's it. Go to your work people, & sir you too. Otherwise, I'm going back to complete my leave.

MD : Ok..ok...people back to your works, NOW.

At evening Sakshi & Riya came to meet Addu. They already heard about Roshni's decision and both girls argued with them.

Sakshi : It's not fare Rosh, Addu ko uss boring office le jaana is a bad idea.

Arjun : I agree with you Sakshi, this time my dear wifey is wrong.

Roshni : for you information, Addu likes that place. He has friends now. Aur kisike paas iska better solution hain?

Yes, I liked that place, other babies are so cute and friendly. We help each other learning things. How to hold, how to bite, how to move and how to use our hand and legs... Today we just recognized each other and now these people want m to stay home? No way!!

Riya : Haan, you go and join office, we're staying with him.

Roshni : for how long? You also have jobs, girls. & you had committed to it. Tum log sirf mere bte ka babysitting karne ke liye aapna farz toh nahi chor sakte na...

Sakshi : Farz kaun chor raha hain? Addu is not just your responsibility.

Roshni : What?

Riya : Haan, Addu agar tumhari office jaa sakta hain toh hamari office vi to aa sakta hain na? Arjun sir ke saath.

This time, I was hell exited. Dad's workplace!! ETF!! I want to go there. Dad always tells me about their work, this time I want to see it myself.

Arjun : No way!! How can I take him with me? It's too risky!!

Saaksi : Just like Rosh gonna take him with her.

Arjun : There's difference in both, Rosh works in a office & we have to do lots of field work. We chase criminals...

Saakshi : Toh??

Arjun : Don't tell me you want me to chase criminals having a baby on my backpack.

Riya : but one of us can keep an eye on him, it's not so difficult sir. Besides, in ETF he knows almost everyone, so he wouldn't feel uncomfortable at all. In rosh's office he'll be fade up.

Sakshi : And you know well, when he feels so, something disastrous happens...like yesterday..( with a glint in her eyes)

Arjun : No girls, our son is our responsibility. Besides, kamla kaki will be back till next week, so we can manage it. We can't disturb other people...

"And ETF is like his home, Rawte. He has his maternal keens there." A voice came from behind.

All turned to the source of that voice.

Roshni : Sam!! Aisha!! You are at this hour??

Aisha : I heard Addu fell down yesterday?

Rathod : & tried to kill a haathi?

Aisha : So, we came to check if he's all right or not.

Sameer came and took Addu into his arms. He pokes his nose on his cheeks and swayed him in the air.

Rathod : Good evening my tiger. How's your day?

Addu offered him a cute smile.

Rathod : went to moms office today? Happy?

Addu again smiled happily.

Rathod : tomorrow you're coming with us...

Addu wriggled and chuckled. He spread his hands to Arjun.

Rathod : Ok. Ok... tomorrow papa ke saath hi jaana. But beta,kal uss aunty ke saath aisa nahi karna chahiye tha na.

Addu made a weired face and shook his hands.

Rathod : Haan haan, samajh gaya, she was bad. Rosh, aaj toh tu le gayee isko, but kal , he'll come with Rawte, at ETF.

Arjun : No Rathod, uski zaroorat nahi...

Rathod : Tumse kisine pucha? Addu, beta, papa ke office chaloge?

Addu let out a chuckle.

Aisha : Lo confirmed, yeh toh aa raha hain, aab agar Arjun sir isko na laye, toh...

Sakshi : Addu ne hisab karr lega...

Roshni : Look guys, I think we should keep in home instead of office, you know he is little mischievous...I'm just worried about...

Rathod : About what?

Roshni took Addu from Rathod and looked into his eyes.

Roshni : I'm worried about my son, kya pata kab kya unhoni ghata de..

Arjun : (poked Addu's stomach lightly) Mr. Addu Rawte, do you have any plan to execute?

Addu smiled at his parents showing his gums & it turned both Arjun and Roshni blue out of fear.

But for Arjun's relief, a case came up at early morning and he had to go hurriedly. So Addu again went to his mom's office.

From now on, a separate room was arranged for babies and another 4 babies also joined. The youngest mother in data entry wing,(her name is Reena) as appointed for look after the babies along with another girl Preety from administration (who wanted to take Addu for a tour of office). Handling one baby is a difficult task, but when the number becomes 10 it's more difficult. After every ten minutes, one of the ten started crying without any cause, or one make cry other; and when one started, others join him. But Reena and Preety was befriended to the babies and they enjoyed this work. Within some hours, they set a routine for the babies, their feeding, sleeping, playing and changing times were set and all of the office were well adjusted to that within 2-3 days. It was a great relief to everyone, especially Roshni. Every day when she took her son to home she felt happy seeing him happy...& Arjun was equally happy to see his son & wife happy.

Arjun : Kya baat hain mere Addu baby? How's your baby party?

Addu grinned showing his gums to his dad's question...& Arjun understood everything is fine.
