No matter how much we debate and how much we accuse anyone, we fans are never going to learn the full truth behind what has happened in regards to KSG leaving the show. And without learning the full truth we cannot put the blame on one person over the other.
Still, for the sake of us fan's peace of mind I would try to highlight some things that I have observed and try to figure out what actually must have happened in this whole mess, because for me right now the state of disharmony in our forum and among us fans have become more disheartening than KSG leaving the show.
KSG:
Let's first try to figure out the person because of whom, our forum is in such a mess right now, and try to see what happened with him.
From KSG's media statement and interview, what we learnt was:
- KSG's contract was for one year and from the very beginning he had stated that he will work in QH only for 1 year.
- After KSG's contract got over in October, he stayed back because he did not want to burden good friend Gul Khan as the second lead Vikrant also left the show at that time.
- KSG was not feeling well and that was the reason why he took breaks and was often absent from the sets.
- Finally on Dec 19th, he discussed with the Channel people regarding taking another break so that he can go and do tests and even agreed to continue to work for another 3 to 4 months if they let him take this leave.
Now, from the interviews of other people like Shalini and from what Forum 32 said in their brief statement, it's quite clear that Karan had discussed in the set as well as with Forum 32 people regarding him leaving QH.
So there is no ground to dispute it when he said his contract was for 1 year and that he was planning to leave after 1 year.. He wasn't lying in his recent media statement but I would say that he has misled the fans earlier.
Because, rumours of him leaving the show spread before in October (which it now looks like was not a rumour but truth), but he denied it at that time saying he was not leaving the show. May be he was bound by contract and was not able to disclose such things to media or may be what he meant was he was not leaving the show at that time (as he has decided to stay for some more time to help Gul.)
Anyway this is what I feel has happened in this whole mess:
KSG was planning to leave the show after one year but decided to stay for some more time because Vikrant also left the show at that time. And then during the last 2 months, being ill (could be there are other reasons as well), he was not able to give his commitment to the show as he had given earlier. And then finally he wanted to take a long break and discussed this with the channel. But its quite clear that when he went on leave KSG has not left the show and neither the channel has finalized anything regarding what to do about Asad's character even though they knew that KSG would leave at any moment.
Zee TV:
I am sure that everyone must have read the first TOI article which came out regarding this. If you remember that article, in that the only thing that Zee TV content head said was, nobody can hold shows and dictate the terms to the extent that it hampers the show and that they will take legal action against him.
He had not said anything regarding KSG coming to the set drunk and going on holidays after citing illness etc.. Media has told all these as quote of a source close to the channel and close to the show..
So its quite obvious that there is /are other 3rd parties involved in spreading all theses stories to the media and that same 3rd party must have said the same things to the Zee TV head. And without investigating the matter further, and clearing things by talking to KSG, he has gone and said to the media that they are replacing KSG for unprofessional behaviour while KSG himself was planning to leave.
Now my guess is that even though Zee TV content head acted based on some things he has heard, there are other reasons why he has put a cap of unprofessional behaviour on KSG.
It's quite obvious that Zee TV was in a dilemma regarding what to do about KSG leaving. They must have known how fans would react hearing that news and they would have known how big a blow it will be to the show. So when they got a story about KSG being unprofessional, they seized the chance to put all blame him, hoping to divert the fans anger towards him; but luck wasn't on their side as majority of KSG's fans are more loyal to him to believe what Zee TV dished out.
Production house:
It's obvious that the production house also knew that Karan would leave at the end of one year and it's also obvious that they knew what it would lead to, but they took the chance of taking him and utilizing his talent in the show for that one year and make hay while the sun shines.
Some hard truths in this:
- Even if Zee TV wanted it, KSG would not have stayed with the show for more than 3 more months, which is clear from his statement.
- KSG has other aspirations like a bollywood movie or a production house and there is nothing wrong with having them and we cannot blame him for leaving the show in order to achieve his dreams.(other actors have done the same). He may have other personal reasons for leaving the show as well and we cannot blame him for any of this.
- The production house and channel signed KSG, knowing very well he would leave at the end of the year. But we cannot really blame them for wanting to utilize one of the best actors in the industry for whatever period he is available.unfortunately that's how the industry runs
- Production house could have wrapped the show within one year. Yes they could have, but then again we cannot blame them for not doing it. In a place where television serials run for years and where the longer a serial runs, the more successful it is said to be; a producer wanting to run a serial for as long as possible cannot be really blamed
- Hence introduction of various tracks by the CVs to prolong the serial so far and wanting to further run a successful serial, which still has the potential to run for many months more, even after KSG's departure is not a crime. They have every right to do it and other actors working in the serial like Surbhi too would want to continue it even if KSG left.
Some wise advices and lessons to be learnt:
KSG and other actors: It's time that actors especially those of KSG's caliber learn that they could hurt a lot of fans sentiments by a decision they make. So it's always best to be blunt about the truth and keep the fans aware of what may happen, rather than dodging the truth.
The Channel: It's never wise to make another person a scapegoat when you are unable to handle a situation and apologies never hurt.
The production house: Its perhaps time that some production houses take a step and try to change the way Hindi television serials run.( Especially if they want to utilize stars with great fan following like KSG and Barun.) it's time production houses think of making serials with a fixed time frame like say 1 year or maximum 2 years and deliver that with good content and tight scripts and end it within the fixed time period, or else consider adopting the concept of 'seasons' so that even actors have a break during which they can pursue their other dreams and come back for a new season.
Fans of KSG: At this moment, fans of KSG should realize that, it is KSG himself who has decided to leave the show and move on. And even if Zee TV apologized and he came back, he would not be staying for more than few months. And its selfish of us and unfair o other actors in the show to demand to end the serial within this short time that KSG would give for the show.. As I have explained above, right now the way things stand in television industry, every production house and channel as well, has a right to continue their Show as long as possible. Its the source of theirs as well as many other peoples' income as well.
So KSG fans, please stop demanding to discontinue the serial if KSG is no longer there and stop bashing other actors especially the one who is going to replace KSG.
Haters of KSG: It's quite obvious from various others' statements and it is proven that KSG was not lying about most of the things and he was a dedicated actor and up to now nobody has complained about him being unprofessional and throwing tantrums in the set and coming to the set drunk etc.. So please don't malign the character of anyone unless it's proven beyond doubt. KSG has worked hard in QH and made the character Asad iconic. Right now, he deserves to be appreciated and congratulated for this and we should let him go with dignity when he wanted to leave the show.
Asad/KSG lovers and AsYA/KaBhi lovers: And finally a word of advice to this group. I myself was so depressed for 2 whole days when I learnt that Karan would no longer be Asad because I could not imagine anyone else playing Asad the way KSG did and I could not imagine anyone opposite our Zoya as Asad.. But no matter how difficult this is, we have to be mature and understand that these actors are just doing a job and they cannot give in to all our fans demands... when they want to leave a serial, they should be allowed to do so and we should accept it.
Another point I want to highlight is that it's unhealthy to get attached to a character and the person playing the role so much. If we are seeing a serial, see it for the whole package - the story, the execution, the direction, the actors everything. Try not to fixate yourself on one actor or the lead pair so much... fortunately I always see serials for the whole package it provides, and so now it has become possible for me to accept the reality that Karan is no longer going to be there as Asad, and move on... I hope you all do too.
