Jai Ho undoubtedly is one of the biggies to be releasing on the celluloid next year, but it's the last film album that releases in current year. A remake of Telugu Blockbuster Stalin(2006), is a film based on a Social theme where Salman Khan will be seen playing a social crusader wiping out evils from the society and helping those in need.
EXPECTATIONS
Sajid-Wajid, who are Salman Khan's loyalist over the years when the onus comes to the music of his film are back again at the helm of affairs. Amal Malik, son of Dabbu Malik also gets an opportunity to compose couple of tracks and the south sensation Devi Sri Prasad is the guest composer. This looks quite an exciting ensemble of music directors hence expectations are naturally on the higher side given the fact Sajid-Wajid always delivers when it comes to a Salman Khan starrer.
REVIEW
Baaki Sab First Class' is a song that takes a pot-shot at the current social, political and economic conditions of India. The lyrics are quite rhetoric and satirical in nature and lyricist deserves full applause for writing such lines to which each and every Indian will connect in present times. Musically it's a big let down with repetitive tunes from Sajid-Wajid that is very high on dhol beats. Wajid's singing is monotonus, but this song is sure to work magic during the course of the film thanks to the lyrics.
Sajid-Wajid's Naina' fixation is there for all to see' & hear'. After churning beautiful Tere Mast Mast' & Dagabaaz Naina'; they are back with Tere Naina Maar Hi Daalenge'. The composition here is very subtle and has a classical base to it. They have used Indian instruments in the composition where traditional Tabla is the mainstay. A very soothing song that is easy on ears and vocals of Shaan & Shreya acts as a cherry on cake. A must hear !
Photocopy' is your massy dance number with a Gujju twist in it. The start hook up tune is damn catchy and when Himesh Reshammiya takes over the mike, he makes the song his own with his inimitable style. The lyrics are nonsensical, but a mix of Gujrati & Hindi words are smartly played within the composition. Seems to be based at a wedding sequence in the film, it will be treat watching Salman dancing on this fun dance track. A chartbuster !
Salman has this knack of promoting young talents. So, this time he has Amal Malik (Son of Dabbu Malik , Nephew of Annu Malik) composing Tumko Aana Hi Tha' which is sung by his brother Armaan Malik. Fresh blood have come-up with a fresh tune that is quite classy in nature. The use of flute and other western instruments is commendable and the lead vocals are commensurate with the tune. Welcome change indeed.
It has a House Mix version named Love You Till The End' with lyrics in English. Armaan Malik's singing in this version is quite appreciable and he took it to another level with his mature rendering. The tunes too have been altered to give this song an International feel. This song may seem to be out of place as far as the film is concerned, but as a standalone piece it stands tall. Full credit to the new Malik generation.
Naacho Re' has been done by guest composer Devi Sri Prasad, who is a name to reckon as far as music down south is concerned. He has earlier gaven a chart scorcher in form of Dhinka Chika (Ready, 2011), but this number is more on music and less on singing. Composition wise too, its an average outing by DSP and Ujjayinee has sung within the limitation of the tunes. An unwarranted track.
Jai Jai Jai Jai Ho' is the last to arrive in the album but it leaves a long-lasting impression. The composition is laced with grandeur throughout, a well intentioned track with superlative lyrics. Amal Malik has totally triumphed with this track and singing by his brother Armaan & Wajid Khan only alleviate the mood further. This song demands a promotional video, and if that's in place I am pretty sure it will become quite popular in times to come.
To conclude, Jai Ho is quite unlike & quite like Salman Khan's albums of recent past. The unlike factor is basically due to the young blood Amal Malik who has fused freshness in the album with his 3 compositions. Sajid-Wajid are at their usual self with nothing out of the box work from them. Wajid should refrain from singing for better results. Jai Ho has two tracks that can be Chartbusters if ably supported by a befitting video. Go for it, specially for the younger Malik generation.
