Chapter 9 :

It's about Two months Addu spent his life on earth. He as quite used to all meaningless blabbering around him. And also learning something every day. He came to know about his dad's habit of having tea, moms coffee with extra-cream. Their routine nok-jhok, fighting's and love. He also came to know about his mom and dad's moods indications on their face. And most important, he learnt to make different sounds to call his parents. An "aa-aa" for Mom and a "Boo" for dad.

One morning, Roshni fed Addu his breakfast and left him near Arjun to help Kamla kaki for their breakfast. Addu felt like excrete, so he started calling his father.

Addu : Boo..

Arjun : Haan baba, bolo. Kya bolna hain?

Addu made a weird face.

Arjun : Dekh beta, avi mazaak nahi. Tu sach bol raha hain na...

Addu made his face weirder.

Arjun : Really? Dekh, kal ki tarha daant mat khilana.

Addu was about to cry this time. Arjun checked him.

Arjun : Ok..ok .don't cry? Roshniii... come fast. Addu ka nappy change karna hain.

Roshni : (from kitchen) My hands are occupied Arjun, Making dough for roti. Would you change it, plz.

Arjun : Ok.

Arjun changed Addu's nappy. Washed him and brought a new one to encase him, but his phone ranged. It was from Rathod.

Arjun : Ek minute rokh, beta. Let me take this call.

Addu looked his dad was busy in phone, talking with his Uncle Sam. He waited patiently. He saw Arjun standing up, walked to the window, and continued talking. He tried to seek his attention by calling him, but Arjun seemed too busy with the call. Addu felt weird, lying down half-naked on his cradle, so he tried again, this time louder. It grabbed Arjun's attention, and he came to Addu, put a hand on his chest to keep him calm and continued talking with Sameer.

Addu felt his dad as getting busy with his work, completely forgot about his one month old helpless half-naked son. He couldn't take it anymore. So he again used his horrible weapon.

Arjun felt some worm wetness on his back and he immediately tuned to his son. He was about to shout on that poor thing, but Addu's red face made him realized that he must did something terrible. He cut the call and bent on his son.

Arjun : Yeh kya kia?

Addu made a black face...at the same time, roshni entered.

Roshni : kya chal raha hain dono Rawtes main?

Arjun : Dekho iss Addu ne mujhe gila karr dia...

Roshni : kyun, tumne bina diaper ke isko godh main uthaya. Avi avi khana khaya hain na isne...

Arjun : Isne mere peeth pe kia hain, dekho!!

Roshni looked at the wet back of Arjun's shirt and then to Addu. That little man was red in anger...and disappointed.

Roshni : Arre ? Isko aise kyun chora? Arjun!! Pants do uska !! (snatched Addu's pants from Arjun's hand and made Addu wear those)

Arjun : Just look what he did !!

Roshni : (hiding her smile) Kya kare, bachcha hainna..nishana chook gaya, thora aur bara hone do, next time sarr gila karega.

Arjun : Mazzak nahi, Rosh. I've to bath again, & I'm getting late.

Roshni : Pehle yeh batao tumne kiya kya hain?

Arjun : Kuch nahi...

Roshni : (scowled) Are you sure?

Arjun : Haan, I washed him properly, then took out this new diaper and was about to encase him..but Sam called for some information...and I got busy with him...ek minute... I left him without his pants on and...

Roshni : That's why he punished you! Arjun, khud ki bacche ko aise naked chorte huye tumko sharam nahi aaya? Addu chota hain..iska matlab yh nahi ki usko sharam nahi aata hain. Tumne usko aise chora kaise? Agar usko thand lag jaati toh!!...bimar parr jata mera beta!! Ek vi kaam thik se nehi hota hain tumse!!

Arjun : (whispered) OOPS !I'm sorry!!

After two days of that incident, Arjun came back home late. He found his baby is crying bitterly, Roshni was patting him and crying with the same intensity.

Arjun : ( worried tone) What happened?

Rosni : (between the sob) Seram sickness, he has fever.

Arjun checked Addu's temperature by the opposite side of his palm. It was wormer than usual.

Arjun : Fever is almost nil...

Roshni : But He's in pain...look how much he's suffering.

Arjun : Ok then...calm down Roshni...it's normal & happens with every child on the earth. Uska himmat barhane ke wajay tum uski saath ro rahi ho!!..you have to be strong!!

Roshni : I'm not crying...

Arjun : (wiped her tears and showing her his wet fingers)Then what is it?

Roshni : (startled a little) oh...kaafi waqt se Addu ko rone main company de rahi thi na...thak gayee...toh aankho main paseena aa gaye..

Arjun : HAAAWW!!

Listening to Roshni's answer, Addu stopped crying and gaped surprisingly to his mother. Then he moved his eyes to see his father's raction. Arjun was shocked to the core.

I was trying to figure out what my mom just said, I turned to my dad for help, but looking at his shocked form, it was confirmed that he's of no use now. GoD!! The whole right side of my body was paining, & I couldn't tolerate that pain, besides, after coming from the hospital at morning, I've started feeling strange. My head was feeling heavy, milk tested bitter and that intolerable pain... Mom tried a lot to keep me calm, but I could not control my cry it's coming out automatically. I thought mom was also crying seeing me in pain, but she was accompanying me?!? How can anybody cry just like that?

Roshni : (sighed) Finally, he stopped!! Arjun, Fresh ho jao. Main kamla kaki ko dinner serve karne ko boti hoon.

She put Addu down into his cradle, but that sudden change of side shooted out his pain, and he started crying again.

This time Arjun took him into his arms.

Arjun : Rosh, I know you didn't had lunch. Do one thing help kaki to set the table, have your meal and feed this barawala Rawte from your hand.Main Addu ko dekh leta hoon, baad main fresh ho jaunga.

Now, Arjun started moving to and fro in the room with Addu in his arms, walked to other rooms and balcony,kept patting his son's back, gently rubbing his hurting sides and telling him today's case update in low voice. After about two hours, he felt Addu fell asleep on his shoulders.
