Chapter 13

We returned home quite late that night since it was a long drive. I stopped the car outside of the house and looked in the rearview mirror to find Raghu and Antara sleeping. Antara was resting her head on Raghu's shoulder and Raghu's head was in top of hers. "Kitne cute lag re hain na dono?" I asked Payal. I turned and saw that Payal had fallen asleep as well. "Payal, utho," I said and she opened her eyes. "Kya hua Ishaan?" She asked. "Aap ka ghar agaya. Andar nahi chalogi?" I asked. "Oh," she said and turned around and saw Raghu and Antara sleeping. "Raghu utho," I said.

I head chachu's voice and opened my eyes to find Ishaan chachu and Payal looking at me. I looked at my shoulder and saw that Antara was still sleeping. "Tum usse uthado aur andar aa jana," Ishaan said as he and Payal got out of the car. "Antara, aankhe kholo," I said softly. She opened her eyes and met mine. Her face was so innocent, like a small child's.

I opened my eyes when I heard Raghu's soft voice. His eyes were the first thing that I saw as I opened mine. "Antara, andar chale?" Payal said, from outside the car, breaking our eye lock. "Haan Di. Chalo," I said. I got out of the car and turned to look at Raghu one last time. He smiled at me and turned to get out of the car from the other side.

It was 9:30 by the time I had changed out of my clothes and was about to go to sleep when I remembered that I had to talk to mom. I walked towards their room and knocked on the door. "Mom," I said. She opened the door and came outside. "Kya hua beta?" She asked. "Mom, samajh mein nahi aa raha ki aapse yeh kaise kahon," I said. I didn't know how to explain what I was feeling. "Raghu, main tumari mom hi nahi, tumari dost bhi hoon. Tum mujhe bata sakte ho," she said. "Mom, jabse hum log Kashmir aaye hain, mujhe kuch ajeeb sa lag ra hain," I said. "Beta, tumari tabeeyat to theek hain na?" She asked, worried. "Haan Mom, par mujhe kuch ajeeb se yaadein aa rahi hain. Mujhe aisa lag raha hain ki main Antara ko phele se jaanta hoon," I said. Mom looked shocked. "Raghu, tum... Tume, tume Antara ke baare mein kuch yaad hain?" She asked. "Mom aap mujhse kuch chupa rahi ho kya?" I asked. "Raghu, phele mere sawaal ka jawab do. Kya tume Antara ke baare mein kuch yaad hain ya nahi?" She asked. "Kuch kuch yaad hain," I said. "Ya Allah," she said. "Mom kya hua? Aap please mujhe batingi?" I asked. "Raghu..." She said and launched into the story of Raghu and Antara. She told me everything from when they had first met and when they confessed their love and how they had been torn apart but brought back together. In the end they killed themselves so that they could be together. And now it was time for them to be together in this lifetime. She told me that the two of us were a reincarnation of them. "Raghu, humne kabhi yeh nahi socha tha ki yeh sab sach mein hoga. Bas hogaya," she said. "Toh main aur Antara ek doosre se pyaar karte hain?" I asked. I was shocked after hearing all of this. Was it really possible? There was no other explanation. "Haan beta. Bahut pyaar karte they. Kya tum ab uss se pyaar karte ho?" She asked. I thought about the time that I had spent with Antara, the feeling that I got around her; it was nothing other than love. I love Antara, I thought. I always loved her. Woh meri sab kuch hain. Meri zindagi ban chuki hain woh. "Haan Mom," I said. "Main usse bahut pyaar karta hoon." "Saach Raghu?" she asked. "Haan Mom," I replied. "Par Mom, main usse baton ga kaise? Aur usse toh kuch pata bhi nahi hain," I said. "Mujhe nahi lagta ki usse kuch pata hain," Rukhsana said. "Kya mujhe usse bata dena chaiye?" I asked. "Lekin agar Antara ko kuch ho gaya toh?" she said. "Mujhe nahi lagta ki hume abhi usse kuch batana chaiye." "Theek hain Mom. Par main usse apna pyaar ka izhaar zaroor karonga," I said. "Haan beta. Jab tum usse yeh baat batoge na, toh uss ke liye special tayaari karna. Make her feel like the most special person in the world," she said. "Thank you Mom, you are the best. I love you," I said and gave her a hug. "I love you too beta," she said.
