HP & Souly.. am here just as i promised..
reading 15 chapters together,have its own disadvantages..so i cant create any posts as of now.. am only going to throw in a few ''pointers'' i stumbled across while reading them,that i think are worth discussing n that i have noticed.. it'll be a chain of comments..

the first line was gen's lines to anjali regarding shashi...n the second one to arnav regarding khushi...

the gen from the nocturnal return made me see him with a heart...a man who could have killed, did not...it would have been easier to get to khushi if shashi was not at all there, wasn't it?...he did not do it...

but, the gen's lines that he doesn't care what happens to khushi...was that only to spite the lordy?...he may be mad with the need to get to his cure...but, we have not seen his heartless-ness yet, have we?...i still cant see him that cruel...

Moonlight kissed the paneled floor of the master bedroom and Kushi, sitting perched up at the end of the massive bed, stared at the cage across the room, the solitary candlelight on the bedside table creating horrendous shadows of the cage on the walls. Shadows that made the bars teeth and the huge dent between the two bars a hungry animal's wide mouth

He walked back into his room and standing before the rope that had the cage at one end and the bedpost at its other end, he gripped at the rope with both his hands and snapped it into two, letting go of the rope-end by which hung the cage. The cage fell tumbling and crashing onto the garden outside, in close proximity of the rose bush and, with the fall of the mangled cage, died memories that had haunted him for years.

Kushi stole a look over the side of her armchair towards the window at the farthest corner of the library. In the sunlight pouring in, dust danced before the curtains and the shadow of leaves danced with them...leaves belonging to the bewitching tall rosebush outside the window.

--chapter-- 194

i thought some symbolism was drawn here..both the cage n rose-bush are something of the past..both are witnesses.. its like they are telling a story of their own..
am actually not sure about it but these have just stuck to my mind..may be they hinted at past..not sure what part of past but its unfolding is drawing near,not in entirety but in parts..perhaps the curse will be revealed first..😳

The General shrugged, "The First Lord is not as powerful as we think. He can't certainly be vigilant of everything that happens in each nook and corner of this vast land. There are many ill things being smuggled into Arhasia. Probably even imposters too."

Lady Anjali was wary, "We must bring this to Chotey's notice."

The General thought over this for a moment and then suggested, "The Lords of Arhasia may be able to set up stronger vigilance and guard along the coast but evil-doers will always find a way to sneak into Arhasia."

--chapter-- 202.

Alright, this was very very interesting.. Arhasia is in danger from an external threat..or may be an internal one too. lordy sure has other enemies than the General. n they are secretly spreading a web for him? n threaten the peace of Arhasia.. i wonder how much the General really knows? if he is part of it all or just a specter of all.. for some reason i cant over look the possibility of ''the third man'' from the prologue... 😛

MEsw, I guess wht I meant is tht Shyam might make Anjali do something. Seeing how this story does differ from the original track in some ways, there could be something different about this too. But I guess you both are right about Khushi being his strength while Anjali is his weakness. But I feel as of now, because he doesn't see her as that, he keeps protecting her and that might come and prove fatal to her. Once he realizes that she is his strength, then will he overcome his opponent. I hope that make more sense.

Hoopoe, I'm glad u joined in, the more the merrier ;) anyways, I loved what you added in. Anjali being water which grows wood but damages metal while fire destroys wood and will only change metal, just like she is changing Arnav slowly. Since Khushi entered the equation, the general has been showing his true face, but only to Arnav and the reader. We can already see the damage being done to the gen. When wood is being burned, it burns from the outside in and you get to watch the wood fall apart in layers. This is what I think will happen to the general. As the fire (Khushi) continues to burn, the wood (Shyam) will fall apart in layers and the family will see who he really is.

''The Bitter Battles''

What a mind blowing piece of creativity dearest linny... Salutations !!! 👏👏👏

Right from the beginning of the chapter..how the General entered into the scene with smoke around him.. the screams n blood bath..a ruthless warrior,who appears to be heartless n too strong to be considered a man with a heart or any emotions... to his past demons haunting him.. to the immense sea of love hidden deep inside him that flows only for the ones he considers his.. i'm blown away.. BRILLIANT.!⭐️

For the first time, in so many chapters,i saw a glimpse of his heart.. n am in love with the beauty it with holds.. for the first time i saw more to him than selfishness,rationalism n obsession.. for the first time i saw the ''light'' in his heart thats definitely powerful enough to erase the darkness that surrounds his persona. yes..if he ever walked the path of redemption linny, i'll walk with him happily.. i keep thinking that this man is ''lost'' somewhere in the maze of his obsession..his actions.. that somewhere one wrong move ,one wrong thought mislead him..winding him up on the wrong path. he does know who stood by his side , who needs to be punished.. he can differentiate between the right & wrong, IF ONLY he would reason enough n not get maddened by the darkness that takes over him so easily..

i loved how he stood for Lightning.. the way his tears kept rolling over his cheek.. the way his heart agonized over his possible loss.. the way despair took over him .. the way he fought between his choices.. & then making a decision that he was content with n which he would never regret.. so,there's some one else too other than himself,who he loves equally well.. i wonder if a man who's capable of loving so much..must loose some one very very dear to him, like his family/mother.. wouldn't that wreck havoc in his life? wouldn't he be damaged enough to consider the whole world ''mad'', ''unreliable'', ''untrustworthy''? i think he would.. for the first time i felt lordy n the General's intensity of pain is similar may be.. its just that we could witness lordy's n not witness his. what demons haunt his memory..what made him thus.. what took the beauty away from him n crushed him into the man he is today??? i know with time i'll get the answers..

He had struggled to keep his other side at bay, especially after Lightning's fall.

Every moment, he was on the verge of breaking out. And the unbearable pain...

His hands fisted absent-mindedly.

so his transformations are just as painful as lordy's.. its just that he never bothered to fight them to reduce the pain.. but he can control it.thats explains why he's so desperate to get rid of it..that n a few more things..

Home? Where is home? Isn't one's home where one's heart is?

His heart was in his cure.

aww.. if only he could see what blessings life held for him.. he would have been in peace.. but alas..destiny has its own little plans n he's crucial to them.

The girl sat cross-legged on the floor, near the horse's wounded leg, her face hidden in the shadow.

She reached out a hand to touch the horse but the General barked, "Stay away!"

The little girl lifted her face to look at him, her eyes aged and angry.

Lightning had calmed down the moment the girl vanished but the General was too shaken by what had happened

very interesting.. hp have you noticed something? the spooky girl is always somehow reciprocating his feelings.. its like,she's on his side.. she feels compassionate to what is close to him.. n gets angry at what he doesn't like/want. she's like a guiding angel for him. always throwing him clues n hints.. plus its as if she wants him to accept her,accept that she's there..make him realize something.

Dear General here's a few words for you...
