Hey Everyone 😃
I just read an article posted by roshni kumar (thank you 😃) titled Liar, about Sanjay dutt, lying about his relationship with his friend. This got me thinking, where do we draw the line between news, buzz and celebrity gossip and intruding into someone's private life?
Many of us are very intrigued by celebrities and what their lives are like off screen, hence every week we tune into shows like KWK which promise to give us a glimpse into the celebrities lives, who are their friend, and who their enemies, what rumours are correct and what bogus. And the more we get the more we want. Recently watching the hindi news on Zee, I noticed that the last 15 mins is always filled with new from bollywood... like which temple Ash visited today or what Rani did for her birthday.
Have we forgotten that these individuals are also people and deserve a moment of privacy? Or is that they have chosen this career and the reason they are paid the big bucks is b/c they have to always remain in the public eye, so they exchange money and fame for their privacy?
But what about when we accuse them of lying, when we ourselves drive them to do so by coaxing them with extremely private questions, who is blame then, our need to know what is going on or their need to keep their private life private?
Celebrites make full use of their popularity by cashing in on deals with with various companies by doing their ads etc... and it us who ending up spending our money buying these products b/c we can't help but be influenced to buy the "shampoo Kareena uses, b/c she has beautiful hair" ... this publicity helping fill the celebrites' pockets...
but why is that when it comes to their private lives or the wrong publicity (something wrong done by celebrity) that celebrities lash out on the media calling them gossip hungry and shy away from the camera? Should celebrities not be answerable for their wrong actions as well, when they make full use of their popularity to earn as much as they can? These celebrities are public figures and are idols for many, should they not be responsible for their actions even if it is their private life?
Now I ask you, where do we draw the line between, private and public lives? And... how much are the celebrities responsible and answerable to the public for their actions off camera?
