A very ill conceived interpretation, indeed!

You are right, people in India or Indian people are taking all negatives from the western world, as it is an easy path.

Completely agree with what everyone has said.
The show is portraying what is actually going on in many countries around the world which has beautiful culture that is being lost to the so-called concept of "westernization/modernization".

It is sad that people tend to equate being "classy" as wearing skimpy clothes, being disrespectful in the name of being independent and open-minded, and treating everyone else as being beneath them if they don't fit into their definition of "classy" living when in fact it is the exact opposite.

But do you forget your manners too like this. I guess she does not have any. Being rich and educated makes people classy or eligible to high society as per her.
She is so snob that she does not understand that all these reflects bad on her so called classy, high status only.
Unfortunately these people do exist on our surrounding. Na jane kaun se baat ka ghamand hai.

nice post...
i don't approve of lavanya's behaviour - she lacks basic manners, now on one point u could blame her "rich" status as a reason for her lack of manners but i don't entirely blame the rich status becos i think she should know better. not every rich person is arrogant... and being classy doesn't mean u have 2 b rude to others who aren't... even less rich people and less educated people can be classy in a different way...
i think people like lavanya do exist in the real world, and i blame the greed of money for blinding their eyes and causing them to not see anything beyond, high status, richness and class. its like they have something others don't so they think that gives them the upper hand and they are naturally above the rest who unfortunately don't have the money and status they have. pretty low thinking but it exists and honestly speaking i don't think it will ever be eliminated from society. the divide between low/high society people will continue till the end of time...
also, i think some rich people think they have the right to put the poor people down...its like them being nice is uncool and completely out of character for what they should be doing. they somehow think, being snobby and rude is something that comes with the package of being rich

Yup!
Thank you for bringing this topic up.
I think she stooped to different level today as a whole. She not only lacked manners but had so much ego that it made me wonder what these people really think of themselves. The money isn't her earning and Pakhi isn't her wife so I don't understand where the ego and frustration is coming from. If you can't stand her then go to your own house...no one is asking you to stay.
Anyhow, I think these people need to learn from the likes of great billionaires that are down to earth and polite.
Lavanya though represents the part of society which we all are very well accustomed to. The snobs that think the world revolves around them and that they are the almighty. When in reality they have no talent, manners or so called CLASS at all.

Not only class but that also represents modernity. Wearing skimpy clothes, drinking alcohol, wearing high heels, playing tennis, eating continental food makes people very modern and eligible to high class society. As if only high society people are modern and classy and people who dont follow all these are gawar. Its such a shallow generalisation. Indian films and shows have stereotyped this whole concept.

I agree with you Sush that imitating western world is a dangerous trend in this part of the world and its sad to see people forgetting their own culture, values make them so called MODERN , CLASSY. This will lead to degeneration of our culture. Why cant there be balance between imbibing good practices from western world along with our good conventional values.

Another thing which annoys me is belittling people with humble background and categorising them as middle class log. Its like an abuse in hindi tv shows.

The funny thing is...if Lavanya came to the western world, and behaved like how she behaved... everyone will think of her as a loud person who is so non PC forcing their choice on others...inother words she will be viewed as a total Gawar...and a narrow minded person..who is too meddlesome .😆
