Two Months Later...

Arnav got home a little earlier than usual.Now that he had got the deal which he and his team had worked so hard to achieve, he can finally relax. He cant wait to share the news with Khushi.He climbed the stairs towards their bedroom excitedly.He was thankful no one was in the living room.For some reason he wanted Khushi to be the first one to know about his big achievement.

Now as he stood in the doorway,his lips automatically curved into a smile as he saw Khushi sitting on the recliner with some wool in her hands.She was humming softly to herself as she worked with the needle.Arnav sighed contendly. In the past 2 months he started feeling extremely close to her than he had ever been and their bond has grown much stronger than before.

As he kept gazing at her, he cant deny the undeniable jolt of attraction he started feeling towards her. Khushi,His best friend of all times and his wife. More often than not he always woke up to feel Khushi's soft breathing on his neck and her slender arms around him.He knew she is not aware of the way she cuddles to him in sleep.Although he was content and happy to have her sleep in his arms, he always ensured to move away from her before she wakes up in order to avoid the embarrassment she might feel.

Just then Khushi realized his presence and smiled widely at him " Hey Sleepy head you are early today! "

" Yep " he said with a smile of his own.

Khushi carefully tried getting up from the recliner and before she could blink Arnav was beside her gently holding her arms, as he assisted her to get up "Hey no need to get up. You know, am not one of those husbands from old times where he feels a wife is not supposed to sit while her husband is standing" he said teasingly.

Khushi laughed and rolled his eyes " Oh please ! Don't flatter yourself. I have been sitting for so long and my legs feel cramped " She said while gently stretching herself.

Arnav's eyes automatically dropped to the bump on her stomach. Pregnancy agreed with Khushi and her face seemed to glow beautifully. He was glad to see she has slowly come out of her depression and is trying to be her happy normal self for the sake of the baby.

Khushi noticed him staring at her belly and blushed slightly while cradling her bump "Arnav stop staring "

Arnav came out of his trance and smiled sheepishly " Oops guilty! Hey by the way I have a good news to share " he said with a broad grin.

Khushi's eyes widened and a big smile broke out in her face " You got it ! You got the deal ! " she stated happily clapping her hands before he had a chance to tell her.

Arnav was taken aback by surprise " Whoa how did you guess? Damn you spoiled my surprise " he said with a mock pout.

Khushi smiled " Well I was expecting this good news from a long time.You did work hard for it "

Arnav grinned back "I have one more news.And am sure you cant guess that "

Khushi frowned " One more? What is that? Tell me quickly " she said with impatience.

Arnav folded his hands and declared with a proud smirk " I have been nominated as the Young entrepreneur of the year by MMA association "

Khushi squealed " Wow that's great.Congrats Sleepy head " she hugged him spontaneously delighted by the news.Arnav was once again taken aback by her gesture.Even this small gesture felt different to him these days.With a happy sigh he hugged her back instinctively careful not to crush her tummy.

After few seconds Khushi realized what she did and slowly distangled her arms from Arnav.They looked at each other awkwardly in silence.Arnav cleared his throat and gestured to the wool in her hands " Hey what's all this ?"

Khushi was thankful to the change in topic.She dint know what came over her to hug him like that.Sure they had hugged plenty of times in the past.But lately she noticed some kind of undercurrent between them. Something has changed and she was not sure what.

"Am crocheting socks for the baby! Naniji has been teaching me how to do it.Its not completed yet but am getting there " she said with a proud smile while showing him the half stitched socks.

Arnav smiled at her excitement " That's cool. Dark blue and baby pink ? " he asked with a quirk of an eyebrow looking at her choice of colors.

Khushi shrugged " Since we don't know the gender yet I decided on these two.Blue if it's a boy and pink if it's a girl.These two are supposed to be the universal gender colors " she said with a big smile as she hugged the bright colors to her chest.

Arnav shook his head amusedly " Khushi don't usually people choose sky blue and baby pink for babies? Your choice seemed to a bit too on the gaudy side "

She glared at him " So what? My baby is going to love these bright colors " she said defensively.

Arnav chuckled at her expression " Ok chill mommy to be" he suddenly looked at her curiously" Waise Khushi which baby would you like to have? Boy or a girl ? "

Khushi shrugged and smiled " Doesn't really matter. I already love it irrespective of the gender " she said caressing her belly fondly.

"You know Khushi I think it will be a girl.With your big brown eyes and bright smile.I would love to see a typical junior Khushi with little piggy tails " he said tweaking her nose playfully.

Khushi smiled " Ya I know you would love to compare her with me when she grows up " Suddenly her expression changed serious " What if it's a boy? " she asked apprehensively. Although she knew Arnav already considered her baby as his,she still want to know if he would loved it if the baby turned out to be a boy.

He grinned at her and replied immediately "Then I will teach him to play football " He took her hand in his and smiled gently "Khushi like you, the gender doesn't matter to me either.Its our baby and I will love it "

Khushi heart swelled in happiness and at that exact moment she felt a sure swift kick in her belly "Ow ! " she said clutching her belly.

Arnav tensed immediately "Khushi what happened? Are you ok? " he looked at her with concern.

Khushi frowned thinking to herself what happened just now? Was it her ---?' before she could complete her thought she felt yet another kick in her stomach.Suddenly Khushi smiled brightly her eyes wide with surprise "Oh my god! " her hands now covered her belly fully and she concentrated intently.There it was again ! she thought joyfully.

Arnav looked puzzled at her reactions "Khushi?? "

Khushi looked up at him and grinned wide " It kicked - The baby just kicked me.Hey Devi Maiya this is so beautiful !" Arnav eyes brightened " Really? "

Khushi nodded excitedly and instinctively pulled his hand in hers and placed it at her round belly " Here feel it yourself. Come on sweety show us your presence.You can hear your mommy right? " She spoke lovingly to her tummy and as if on cue the baby kicked again.

Arnav's eyes widened into huge saucers "Unbelievable! I- I felt it .My god Khushi ! I felt the kick.Is this the first time? " He looked up at her and asked her in wonder.

Khushi smiled and nodded yes tears welling in her eyes.How she wished her late husband was there to witness this. Moments like this ,she missed him badly.At the sametime she was grateful for Arnav's presence in her life. There is no one else in the world that she would have shared this precious moment with, other than Arnav.

Arnav felt an unknown joy erupt inside him, as he felt the baby's kick for the first time. Nothing had prepared him for this moment.He knelt down in front of Khushi and spoke softly to her tummy "Hey sweetheart.This is your daddy here" -KICK- Arnav's eyes widened again and with a big smile he placed his ears closer to her belly just when the baby kicked yet again to his delight.

" Wow ! that was amazing "He looked up at her and their gazes connected with each other. Arnav stood up.Somehow sharing this moment together made it more intimate and without giving another thought,he cupped her face gently and kissed her forehead.

It was Khushi's turn to be taken aback this time. Arnav smiled at her gently and pulled away slightly.Still holding her face in his hands, he whispered softly looking into her big brown eyes " Khushi thank you for sharing this moment with me.I cant tell you how much this mean to me.And I promise to always love and protect our baby "

Khushi's eyes swelled with tears again but this time she let it fall freely.She cant name the emotion running through her at the moment but she was so very happy to hear those words from Arnav.His gentle kiss earlier had moved her emotionally and she felt the sudden urge to hug him.

Oblivious to her inner turmoil, Arnav wiped her tears and asked her confused "Hey why are you crying? I thought you were happy "

Khushi shook her head and sniffed "Pregnancy hormones.I am happy and I should be the one to thank you for always standing by me.Thanks Arnav.I don't know what I would have done without you " She said with a teary smile.

Arnav smirked teasingly " Ya I know am awesome.Come on duffer no thanks between us.Although I wont mind another of that hug you gave me earlier though " he said with a wink.

.Khushi knew Arnav is merely pulling her leg but she cant help herself from blushing. She blamed it on her crazy pregnancy hormones.Its making her think and feel all weird around Arnav lately.

Before Khushi could respond to Arnav's teasing, Anjali's voice came from the corridor."Khushi am home! "a minute later a smiling Anjali popped her head inside.

She was surprised to see Arnav and Khushi standing so close to each other."Oops sorry dint mean to interupt! I dint know you are here so early chotte " she said apologetically although her eyes glinted with a curious speculation.

Arnav and Khushi quickly stepped away from each other.Arnav rolled his eyes.His sister always had a knack of giving entry at the wrong moment.He dint know what made him to tease Khushi like that but once the words were out, he wanted to hear her response.

Khushi on the other hand was thankful for Anjali's appearance.She had no clue how she would have responded to Arnav a minute ago.In the past, if Arnav gave a flirty comment she had always come back with a sharp reply or an equally flirty one.However things are different now.

Arnav was the first one to respond " I finished early di.And am really glad I did.You know what? We felt the baby move ! " he said excitedly.

Anjali squealed " Wow ! Really ? " she said with a huge grin as she looked at Khushi for confirmation.

Khushi beamed " Haan Di.We both were just talking about him or her when I felt it "

"Wow that must be an amazing feeling right.Am so happy " Anjali said as she hugged her sister in law.Although she wished to experience the feeling herself as a mother, she was glad she atleast get to be a part of this baby's life.

"It was totally unbelievable di " Arnav chipped in feeling elated.

Anjali pretended to pout " I missed all the fun ! I want to feel my niece or nephew too "

Arnav grinned " Ofcourse you will Di.Now that it has finally happened, am sure she will make her presence known often "

Anjali quirked her eyebrow amusedly " Her? How do you know its her and not him ? "

Arnav smiled sheepishly while Khushi laughed softly " Di he is hoping for a miniature Khushi as he put it "

Anjali laughed too "Yeh Chotte Bhi na " she said and playfully hit her brother's arm.

Khushi smiled and said " We should share this to Naniji and Buaji as well.They will be delighted and Arnav also has an important news to share " she said looking at him.

Arnav suddenly realized he had completely forgotten about the his deal and the award The minute he felt the baby's movement for the first time, his happiness took a different angle and his deal had taken a back seat before this huge moment.

When Anjali looked at Arnav eagerly, Khushi explained about his award and deal.Making Anjali squeal again and hugged Arnav. "Wow This is such a wonderful day of good news and surprises " she said when she pulled away.

Arnav and Khushi looked at each other and smiled.Its a wonderful day indeed.
