Article on Gurmeet and Debina

Viewers of Nach Baliye 6 seems to be wondering as to why Gurmeet Choudhary, who is one of the most popular TV stars of the day (last seen in Punar Vivah), is getting less audience votes compared to other contestants. He is never number one on audience voting ranking. He is usually perched on third or fifth in the voting list.

A source speculated whether this fall in audience voting can be attributed to the fact that a sizeable section of Gurmeet's huge fan base, who also voted him to victory in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, is not very comfortable with hisbaliye, Debina Bonnerjee.

They still prefer to see him with his very popular Star One show Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi co- star Drashti Dhami.

Apparently these same set of fans also played an important role in Drashti's victory in Jhakak season 6. Some of them claim that they are deliberately voting for other contestants (Ridhi Dogra - Raqesh Vashisth and Asha Negi-Rithvik Dhanjani) to just ensure defeat of Gurmeet and Debina.

We tried to get in touch with both Gurmeet and Debina, but could not get through to them as they were busy with their rehearsals. However, a source close to them said that one should not read too much into the initial voting trends.

The source added: "A lot of audiences are voting out of sympathy for say, out of work Ripudaman Handa (Masterchef 3 winner) and handicapped Vinod Thakur and their respective baliyes. The shows are structured in such a way that at first those candidates who have a disadvantage are focussed on in an attempt to garner more eye balls. As a result they get more audience votes initially. The source further added that many of Gurmeet and Debina fans also might have been influenced by the above sympathy wave. They might have thought that this couple has so many fans so may be let's help the weak link in the chain. But as you must have noticed that are they are already returning to voting for their favourites."

The source also rejected the argument that the judges have been partial toward Gurmeet and Debina.

"Sajid Khan likes Gurmeet, so that can't be helped, but he is fair in his markings. When they don't perform well he does dock his marks. Like in the recent Tango performance he just gave them a ten."

Last but not the least the will informed source rubbished the allegation that a section of Gurmeet fans are angry at him due to Debina.

"It did happen for a while after Geet but all that is pass, they have now accepted her. Just see the fan following on their Facebook page," ended the source.

Well...all Gurmeet-Debina fans...support the couple to win the show!!!
