It was a political episode with one significant Jalal-Jodha scene. However, the manner in which the incidents in the episode played out today, has really left me intrigued to find out what the verdict is that shall be pronounced tomorrow!
1) MA-JALAL
MA knows how to wield her weapon in a fashion that possibly none else in the serial can - The manner in which she managed to twist Jalal's emotional strings today - the manner in which she shushed him and nearly made him look away in embarrassment through her tear-jerking dialogues - the manner in which she got Jalal to even remove his 'padgi' as a mark of respect towards her - shows exactly how and why a nanny maid managed to control the strings of the Mughal Sultanat for such a long time!
At the end of her usual 'Hail-Shehenshah' dialogues, she concluded it with 'I EVEN agree with your decision of NOT SELECTING Adham for the post of subedaar...BUT you didn't consult me for so many issues lately...' Lord! This woman is impossible!😲
Needless to say, Jalal is moved and willingly brings the issue to an end by taking a promise from her that she'd never leave the Sultanat!
As for the Adham issue - I don't know what Jalal's thinking - but, I'm glad he's not hidden the fact that he doesn't think his 'doodh brother' worthy of the post!😊
2) TASNEEM-ADHAM
Jodha looked beautiful in that light pink attire. What's not to love when she says 'I'm the Mughal Shehenshah's Begum commanding you...let go of her ...NOW!'😳
'Taashvik kaarya' 😆OMG...Adham as it, he's mental and now drunk too...I don't think he understood what she was trying to say! Jodha's dictionary and vocabulary is out of this world!
3) JO-JA
How sweet the manner in which Jalal welcomes his angry Begum
'You appear so angry, Jodha Begum...you've even forgotten to offer me your usual NAMASKAR' he states with a soft smile 'Pray tell me what wrong I've done this time!'
'Not you' she seethes 'Its Adham'
'Yes...but, I've forgiven him many times in the past because he's Badi Ammi's son' [hmmm, here is where Jalal went wrong!]
[I think Jodha was already annoyed - fresh after her altercation with Adham. To top it, Jalal seemed so composed when Jodha had come to him with an issue - it only got to her more! I think she wanted him to 'fume and seethe' as soon as he saw her that way too...but, Mr.Cool-head didn't oblige -well, at least not for the first 5 minutes!😆]
'What did he do to you?' Jalal enquires calmly
'Not me! He doesn't have the GUTS to misbehave with the Shehenshah's Begum' Jodha shouts (we seem to be hearing a LOT of this status proclamation recently, Jo😛!) 'But, what's wrong is wrong - whether it's against a Begum or a Daasi...after all, both are women!' [well said]
Finally, the king did become quite grim and infuriated when he got to hear the entire story, though!😊
4) COURT SCENE
I know I shouldn't be bringing my 'fan-gurl' sentiments here, but how many let out a sigh, when the Shehenshah said 'harf-duh-harf'...I can only guess what it means, but Jalal's urdu is Mashallah!😳
Obviously, once I'd finished 'awwwing' over Jalal, I realized the entire twist in the tale and what a twist it was!👏
MA had obviously played her cards well the previous day (and planned the whole thing along!!!)
Not only had she pre-trained Adham on what to say in the court (subtly indicating towards Jalal's own family/weddings and where he stood lawfully), she'd also emotionally-blackmailed Jalal (the previous day itself) into ensuring he'd get her to pronounce the judgement on Adham's issue as the chief advisor!
Needless to say, Ruqaiyya and more importantly - Jodha weren't happy about it!
This whole Ruqs-Jodha-Ma trio of three dominant women - with Jalal in the centre really does make for very interesting viewing!👏
I'm actually looking forward to see what happens in the court tomorrow since what Adham is doing is under Sharia law! (since, no one knows that Tasneem is not a willing participant in this wedding🤔)
PRECAP
Awww what 'puppy-dog' expressions Jalal had when his Begum declared that they were not ghrina-mates...but confidantes instead!
