Chapter 17

Wednesday morning Dev informed Maan about Geet's resignation. Dev had wondered as he had seen Geet's work and was just as impressed as Maan. He had never bothered about her since he had his own secretary which was good enough but never had a secretary handed in a resignation. They were all fired till date.

Maan tore the paper into tiny little bits and rose. He saw the envelope on his desk which was handed in by human resources. It was Geet's pay check.

"How dare she just resign? This girl simple doesn't understand does she?" He was pacing his office like a wounded tiger. Dev raised his brow.

"Bro, you can get another secretary. Why are you bothering about her?"

"I want her only Dev. She is unique and I always get the best."

Maan guessed about Geet's whereabouts and went to MC. The car which drove her wasn't there. He considered going in but then he remembered Geet's address.

He lowered the window. The gate was locked but there was a watchman sitting inside the premises. The house was beautiful from the outside and the garden was well maintained. People were working here and there. Maan got out of the car and advanced the gate. The watchman saw him coming but didn't unlock the gate.

"Listen, is Geet home?"

"No sir, she left."

"Where to?" The watchman looked Maan up and down. Geet had told him not to tell.

"Sorry sir but she has given me strict instructions not to tell." Maan looked around and then at the gate.

"Why is this place locked up when there is someone living here?"

"No one really lives here anymore. Madam comes sometimes and the children haven't returned since they went off to boarding school." Maan wanted to ask when he noticed the name plate: RAG S Mishra. What sort of name was that? But Mishra... Mishra from Mishra Constructions. Maan had more puzzle pieces in his hand but it made the picture more unclear.

"When will Geet return?"

"Two weeks she said."

On his way to KC he took out his paper and read:

Geet ... - what is her surname? (I can check that from the employee data base) Handa

Where does she live - again the employee data base could help RAG S Mishra

What does she do apart from working for me - ??? work for MC

What does do in her free time - ??? ???

Why is she so indifferent towards me - ??? ???

Knows about feeling but doesn't like talking about them- why? ?

Who is the guy with the car - check number plate Sohan Mishra's car, guy??

Why did she say happiness sometimes came with a big pinch of sadness - ??? ???

1. Geet was always around MC

2. Geet wouldn't give up her job there no matter what he tried

1. Even though he was sure Geet was still MC, Adi had lied and said she had gone home. Why?

What was the connection between Geet and the Mishras'? She worked for them.

Maan reached KC. Two weeks without Geet will be hell both professionally and personally. To his surprise he saw Vicky in his cabin.

"What are you doing here?" Maan greeted him. Vicky didn't expect him to be any different.

"I had to give in to dad's demands. I will join KC from today." Maan nodded. He knew Vicky's problems.

"Tell me, where did you do your intern ship again?" Vicky gulped but he tried to be as casual as possible.

"Mishra Constructions." Maan's head turned to him.

"What? What made you join them?" Vicky had anticipated all there questions hence answered:

"It was just another firm. Where is the harm?" Maan thought about Vicky being at MC and Geet being there, too.

"Do you know any Geet?"

"Yes, she works there. Nice girl, very efficient in her work."

Maan nodded.

"Tell me about the MD, have you met him?" Oh boy, this one will be difficult.'

"Well, I was an intern there and I do have to be professional, right? So I think I should not answer this question."

"That was pretty good Vicky, I never thought you would grow up. Ok now since Geet left you will have to fill in for her."

"What, as your secretary?" Vicky was knocked for six. He knew he couldn't expect a high position at the start but SECRETARY? He already missed Geet.

"Yeah, after all you need to see how I work. Let's start."

Guys I have two exams shortly before Christmas break and also two papers to write and presentations to hold. I will not be able to reply to your comments till then unless I find time which is highly unlikely.
