It is one thing if the nurse carefully switched the babies immediately on birth and there was never a record of the stillborn female child. But when such a record exists, it seems a little ridiculous that they would allow ira to go back with a healthy male child.

Your possibility would only make sense if women are booted out immediately after the baby pops out and is discharged immediately.

But there would be a point where the woman regains consciousness and is still in the hospital and wants to hold her baby in her arms. Also usually nurses teach moms how to do the first feedings. So some interaction has to be there between the baby and the mom in the hospital.
