with various actors quitting their shows almost
overnight
Sunil Grover Role: Gutthi in Comedy Nights with
Kapil Reason to quit: Apparently wants a pay hike
Actor-comedian Sunil Grover became immensely
popular as the 'feminine' Gutthi in the standup
comedy show Comedy Nights... A number of fan
pages and followers on a number of social
networking sites later, Sunil demanded a pay hike.
Reportedly after the producers and channel
refused the same, Sunil allegedly quit the show.
Sriti Jha Role: Ganga in 'Balika Vadhu' Reason to
quit: Creative differences Sriti Jha joined the cast
of Balika Vadhu as Ganga in February this year,
but the actress has always been vocal about not
being 'creatively satisfied' with the way her
character was shaping up (she made similar noises
when she was doing 'Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati
Bhava' and quit that show). When Sriti finally quit
'Balika Vadhu', the makers replaced her with
actress Sargun Mehta almost overnight!
Giaa Manek Role: Jeannie in Jeannie Aur Juju
Reason to quit: Tiff with producers Amidst
confusions of a show extension, Giaa agreed to
extend her contract for a few months and let go of
other projects for the show. But as soon as Giaa
heard that the show makers were auditioning for a
new Jeannie from sources, she's put in her papers.
According to sources, even her co-star Ali Asgar
has quit the show.
Shilpa Shinde Role: Daya in Do Dil Ek Jaan Reason
to quit: Creative dissatisfaction Shilpa Shinde who
played an underworld don in the show (the role
which was offered to Kamya Punjabi was given to
Shilpa as the former went to the Bigg Bosshouse)
had been wanting to quit the show for sometime,
as she's been unhappy with the way her character
was portrayed.The actress recently fractured her
arm and has finally been 'eased' out of the show.
Last heard, Shilpa's going to pursue a career in
Marathi films.
Vikrant Massey Role: Anchor of Yeh Hai Aashiqui
Reason to quit: Unknown Vikrant Massey, who
hosted Yeh Hai Aashiqui, has been missing from
the show for the last few episodes.The actor, who is
juggling between a daily soap Qubool Hai and is
reportedly shooting for a movie as well, is said to
have bid adieu to the show because he was refused
a pay hike. Rithvik Dhanjani has currently
replaced him.
Smriti Kalra Role: Suvreen in Suvreen Guggal
Topper of the Year Reason to quit: Unknown After
two successful seasons of playing the bubbly
Suvreen, Smriti Kalra is finally quitting her show.
While the reasons of her leaving are still unclear,
the producers are already screen testing new
protagonists for the third season of the show.
Mohit Malik Role: Rehaan in Suvreen Guggal
Topper of the Year Reason to quit: For another
project As the second season of Suvreen Guggal
wraps up, actor Mohit Malik's character is also
being phased out from the storyline. Reportedly
Mohit has been roped in to play the lead opposite
Neha Marda in a prime time show that's slated to
air on a rival channel in December this year.
