First of all, thank you Ammuji for unintentionally reminding me to make this post.

I've been wondering for many days whether we should be expecting a passionate love story from the Dulhann creatives. Its not an Ekta K serial where romance is most of the time the integral part of the serial i.e. Kahin Toh Hoga, Kasuati Zindagi Ki, Kasam Se,KkayvaAnjali, Kayamath....to name a few. Come to think of it...which Non-Ekta serials have highlighted romance in a big way AND been sucessful with it? Lets take a look at other Zee serials:

  • Saath Phere: Zee's most sucessful serial. Nahar and Saloni are a popular couple but the serial is most definately not about their love story. All the characters play equally important parts (nearly as much anyway) as the main leads. In fact I feel Brijesh has as much importance as Nahar does. Its the twists and turns in family which make the serial run so well, no romance.
  • Kasam Se: Ekta Kapoor serial....Jai and Bani extremely popular pairing. But as I said before, Ekta is well known for this.
  • GKLB: I don't watch this as much but If I'm not wrong the main lead couple are Laxmi-Satyakam right? Even then the concentration isn't too much on them two as much as it highlights the conspiricies between the family members. It is more about the struggles of women in society as well. Again, this serial doesn't rely on the romantic angle b/ween any of the couples.
  • Maaya: I don't watch this. 😛 Is it a family drama or love story? I really don't know. So do tell me. 😛
  • Now on to Dulhann! Should we be expecting a romantic and passionate love story from non-ekta creatives? If I am to be an optimist, I would say a BIG YES! Till now, hasn't the story relied on Saagar-Vidya? Their love story? I remember while ago, in SBS the reporter had said that Dulhann had not started well but the audience didn't realise how and when "Saagar and Vidya's story" made a place in our hearts. No other character apart from Sindoora is given as much importance as these 2 have been given. Till a few weeks ago, didn't we get to see a SV scene everyday? Its their chemistry which the creatives have to cash on. Or is there a chance where they will twist it in to a family drama like Saath Phere and put SV in the backseat? What if Saagar remembers Vidya (highly unlikely) then they would need to think of so many new concepts and ideas.

Wow, i've written loads. Haven't re-read it, forgive me for any mistakes but I would like to know your views. 😊

No problem Reemz, great minds think alike! 😉

Great post btw... this is exactly what I was thinking about yesterday..!! Yes, there's Nahar-Saloni but we rarely get to see scenes of them together. And of course there were many problems with them, blah blah, but all in all, there are very few NS scenes.

If we look at it, all Ekta serials are known for their passionate romance scenes and how good the pairings look together. Ekta's got that gift atleast, until the story might go downhill! 😉

Maayka is more of a family drama than a love story, but the scenes between Veer - Raaji and Jeet - Mahi are really cute! 😳 That's why the show is doing quite well (atleast I think so).... but not many love scenes, just cute ones between the jodis! 😛

Dulhann..... you are very right, SBS reporter herself said about Sagar and Vidya... that is what the show mainly focuses on, but without the other characters (Chinu Bhaiyya, Neil, Bharat, Sindoora, etc) the serial is nothing! And what you said about the creatives having to cash on is absolutely right. Instead of focusing on not having happiness or just thinking or talking, they should focus on what makes the serial do well... and that's SV! 😳

Nancy, will be looking forward to your post.

Thanks for replying ammu, nice thoughts. I have a query though...Do you think the characters you've mentioned are all necessary to the serial? Yes I love them all but to me the only other character which can be exploited is Sindoora's. Yeh Bharat,Chinu,Aniketh,Tusshar, even Shalu and Chachi are a great additions to the serial but I personally don't see them as a necessity for the audience. Erm, its hard to explain...haha. I'm not saying all those characters are not important, in fact they are VERY important to the serial but if we moved the main impact/storyline on to any of them....would the serial work as well it has been for the past 6months?

Am I making sense?

BTW, the views above are only mine, so please do differ if you feel so. 😊

I am expecting a somewhat passionate love story between SV...its high time! 😊 I didn't watch BMTD much in the beginning...was going on and off it...but once SV started coming together i began to like where it was going. SV are really good together particularly in emotional scenes. Sagar is simply too good in those sad scenes emotes really well...really touches me sometime! 😭 😆

Lately however, with Surilis character constantly in the middle, 😡 i have been losing interest in Dulhan...but with the introduction of the new character, Tushar things may well get interesting. 😉

As for Saath Phere...i agree with u reemz on how all characters play an important...not just Nahar and saloni.

KS, is a success mainly for JB and their romance...and i'm still happy with this serial...though it could have a better story line of late!!! 😆

As for the other two serials u mentioned, Betiyaan and Maayka...i don't watch it often...but for me the romance just doesn't seem to be happening there.

Hey Taz, Nice to see you here!!! 😃

It is high time we saw passionate scenes b/ween SV. I totally agree about their ability to make us feel in their touching & emotional scenes. Couples which make you tingle inside will always show passion in whatever scenes they are given. SV are a high voltage pair...whatever scene they are in...their chemistry electrifies us. 😳

Its the twists and turns in family which make the serial run so well, no romance. I've left watching this soap long time ago. For me this serial was never Nahar-Saloni kahani, it was always Saloni's story, as the title say Saloni ka Safar, the way the story is always connected with Saloni and the way she handles every twist make this serial so special. As for Brijesh agree with you, but there is one jodi that haven't been given such importance which is Aditi-Dheer's.
  • Kasam Se: Ekta Kapoor serial....Jai and Bani extremely popular pairing. But as I said before, Ekta is well known for this. In all Ekta serial we got to see family drama and love story but what leads is the love story of the main characters. The friendship and love are the highest points of Ekta serials for me!!!

What if Saagar remembers Vidya (highly unlikely) then they would need to think of so many new concepts and ideas. In Dulhan i'm seriously hoping to see love story between SV (fingers crossed) but saying about what we have got to see i hardly believe that their love story would be the main issue. Analising the title Banoo Mein Teri Dulhan we can say that it's not about love story!!! It's about marriage life, problems in in-laws, argues... With recovery it's not necessary that he will forgot about Vidya (If you saw Kashish, the main actor was also handicap and after recovery he remembered about his wife)

Hope i didn't confuse you much😳😉

But didn't JB's love story happen after marriage too?? It wasn't really about marriage problems, instead more about hate turning in to love. Also Koshish ended very soon after Neeraj turned normal.

Sharad had said that his chracter is very arrogant. I just find it hard to imagine him accepting Vidya.

Thanks for replying! 😃

Nope, no thanks😛

You still remember Varun's character name? 😕 I only remembered Kajal 😕 😆

Jai was also arrogant in the beginning and now who can say that about him? Don't worry, in the end they will end up together, after torturing us, dragging the story, too much drama though 😕

Oh..!! I get exactly what you are saying, Reemz. Of course Chinu Bhaiyya, Bharat, Tusshar (sholly, put Neil before), everyone is important.... but yes, if the storyline moved over to focus on them, then the serial probably wouldn't do as well. I think Sindoora adds some mystery and of course the "vamp" in the story, and then of course Sagar and Vidya are the main. And yes, you are definitely making sense...... Even though every character is important, shifting over the focus doesn't mean it will help the serial. So yap, well said now I understand! 😊
