First of all, thank you Ammuji for unintentionally reminding me to make this post.
I've been wondering for many days whether we should be expecting a passionate love story from the Dulhann creatives. Its not an Ekta K serial where romance is most of the time the integral part of the serial i.e. Kahin Toh Hoga, Kasuati Zindagi Ki, Kasam Se,KkayvaAnjali, Kayamath....to name a few. Come to think of it...which Non-Ekta serials have highlighted romance in a big way AND been sucessful with it? Lets take a look at other Zee serials:
- Saath Phere: Zee's most sucessful serial. Nahar and Saloni are a popular couple but the serial is most definately not about their love story. All the characters play equally important parts (nearly as much anyway) as the main leads. In fact I feel Brijesh has as much importance as Nahar does. Its the twists and turns in family which make the serial run so well, no romance.
- Kasam Se: Ekta Kapoor serial....Jai and Bani extremely popular pairing. But as I said before, Ekta is well known for this.
- GKLB: I don't watch this as much but If I'm not wrong the main lead couple are Laxmi-Satyakam right? Even then the concentration isn't too much on them two as much as it highlights the conspiricies between the family members. It is more about the struggles of women in society as well. Again, this serial doesn't rely on the romantic angle b/ween any of the couples.
- Maaya: I don't watch this. 😛 Is it a family drama or love story? I really don't know. So do tell me. 😛
- Now on to Dulhann! Should we be expecting a romantic and passionate love story from non-ekta creatives? If I am to be an optimist, I would say a BIG YES! Till now, hasn't the story relied on Saagar-Vidya? Their love story? I remember while ago, in SBS the reporter had said that Dulhann had not started well but the audience didn't realise how and when "Saagar and Vidya's story" made a place in our hearts. No other character apart from Sindoora is given as much importance as these 2 have been given. Till a few weeks ago, didn't we get to see a SV scene everyday? Its their chemistry which the creatives have to cash on. Or is there a chance where they will twist it in to a family drama like Saath Phere and put SV in the backseat? What if Saagar remembers Vidya (highly unlikely) then they would need to think of so many new concepts and ideas.
Wow, i've written loads. Haven't re-read it, forgive me for any mistakes but I would like to know your views. 😊
