I know that there are mixed feelings about today's episode.
Some found it hot, some found it awww, some found it boring, some found it meaningless...
I found it interesting.
Though the title is Zoya's liberation, I would like to make a small note Shirin-Nikhat and Dilshad-Najma convo. I thought that the CVs did a great job here.
Shirin literally "stole" Rashid away from Dilshad by tricking Rashid into marriage. She is paying the price for it in a big way with her insecurity and has passed on this insecurity to her kids. Dilshad on the other hand has only loved. She could have become bitter but she didn't as she decided to treasure the two precious gifts in her life, her kids. She faced life with a positivity and fought against all odds and taught her kids the same.
"AN ARROW CAN ONLY BE SHOT BY PULLING IT BACKWARD. WHEN LIFE IS DRAGGING YOU BACK WITH DIFFICLULTIES, IT MEANS ITS GOING TO LAUNCH YOU INTO SOMETHING GREAT. SO JUST FOCUS, AND KEEP AIMING." - Anonymous
Dilshad used this philosophy in her life.
Shirin herself will be the cause of Rashid walking out on her, maybe even her kids, or she might just end being mentally unstable because of her fears, because of her fears that what she did to Dilshad would be done to her.
NOW ON TO ZOYA.
Zoya grew up with one foremost slogan "Marriage is forever" only because of what had happened to her parents. She drilled it deep into herself.
Then she had drilled into herself another slogan "If she does marry, she would do it only when she falls in love".
The problem is that she had not taken into consideration the two slogans together.
Meanwhile she fell in love and deeply in love.
So when she "accidently" got married to Ayaan, or to be more precise, when she was forced to acknowledge that she did get married to Ayaan by our Mr.Khan himself, she was constantly at war within herself.
She was flitting in and flitting out between the two slogans. She was trying to be true herself to what she promised to herself. In yesterday's episode, this was beautifully depicted on Zoya's face, the war that was going on within her.
She had the devil on her left, waving the two slogans, sometimes one by one, sometimes both together. Then she had the angel on her right who put both the slogans together and waved "Marriage cannot be forever without love". [Zoya's frown when Shirin chides Badi Bi with "How can let our daughter-in-law (marriage for ever) go with her lover (LOVE)"]
Then came along Asad, her knight in shining armour, a man who did not believe in love, who did not think he was worthy of being loved, a man who did not think he could love, fighting for her, his life, his love, fielding off arrows, rocks, boulders from all sides. And the angel on the right won. And she chose Love thus liberating her.
[The CVs did a great job in explaining this through Zoya's dialogue. Zoya, as an orphan, grew up making her own rules and steadfastly believing in it]
I know it looks like Zoya did a sudden 360. Yes, she did. She was confused during the Zoyaan track but having been shown differently by Asad, and been 200% convinced of her choice became the old Zoya, forget the negativity of the past and go forward in life being positive.
The kiss that she gave Asad was so typical Zoya.
Asad pulled her leg by saying that she be a typical wife and make his life boring. Zoya being Zoya prided herself in being different. So she came back with retort that she would make it "thrilling". But Asad asked her how, she was at a loss for a moment and that's when she suddenly decided to kiss him. [She has no clue of Asad's dreams, she run a mile away from Asad in shyness]
I liked the dance as it was a flirtatious dance from Zoya POV and an impatient one from Asad's POV.
After Zoya ran away, she came back and stood a little away. Asad jerked her to him. She is still shy when it comes to physical closeness, so she continues flirting with Asad without getting too close. Its Asad who keeps pulling her closer to him. Finally she gives in at the end. This is first conscious dance they are having.
I liked the dance. It was not supposed to be a passionate dance, but a dance that depicted both Asad and Zoya's state of mind, the growth in the love for each other.
