When Kids Become Parents... Nov 4
A lot has been written and analyzed about today's "mohabbat ki jeet' episode, so I won't go into the details.
Asad and Zoya pretty much reviewed the essence of this whole episode and mohabbat ki jeet' track with their words and actions.
In life, we grow up assuming that our parents, seniors, religious leaders and teachers know best and are our well-wishers. To a large extent this is true, but as a parent and a professional who works with kids, I can say that I have learnt a lot more from my kids than I ever thought I would.
Today, Asad and Zoya, representatives of the younger generation did the same. They gave a lesson of life to their parents, seniors, religious leaders and contemporaries.
Will these seniors and leaders learn from AsYa's words and actions or will they take it as an insult to their inflated sense of ego?
Ghafoor: Yes, he heard it from Zoya. How her abbu left her ammi after nikaah and never honored those vows. So, if Ghafoor actually loved Zainab, did he do the right thing 20 years ago? Will he admit to it? Will he try to make amends and at least make an effort to find his daughter? I doubt it as this man has a very big ego and no matter, how guilty he feels, he will focus on the daag on his supposedly clean daman' rather than wash that daagdaar daman' that he has managed to secretly hide from the world.
Rashid: Will he consider the actions of his son a wake-up call? Will he be proud of what his son did today? Will he try to make amends with his first family? Will he try to come out of the shackles of Razia's conspiracies and at least try to clear his name? Let's see if his son has taught him a lesson or not.
Shireen: Unfortunately, she will never learn- whether it's from life, her kids or her well-wishers. Expecting her to make amends is futile.
Razia: She was elated to see Zoya leave but didn't you all see her expression when Zoya talked about her abbu and ammi? Well, she doesn't have a decent cell in her body so I doubt she will change right away. Her weakness is Humeira- her youngest daughter. One day, if Humeira is in grave danger and what if Zoya is the only one who can save her, will she change then? I am not counting on it.
Badi Bi: Badi bi is definitely the biggest well-wisher of Zoya. After Ayaan, she seems to have fallen head over heels in love with Zoya. I am glad she insisted on Zoya stating her wishes before making such a big decision. Why didn't she do that the day Asad was forcing her to sign the nikaahnaama? Perhaps, having lived with Zoya has made her appreciate the person Zoya is. This also tells me that if Asad spends enough time with her, will she have the same attitude towards him as she has with Ayaan? Can badi bi move to Asad's house for some time?
Humeira and Ayaan: A big lesson for these youngsters who claim they are in love. Humeira, of course is very sure but hopefully, Ayaan will learn a big lesson from his bhaijaan and bhaijaan's amaanat after this showdown. He still hasn't said anything to his family. Hope he does that soon. His bhaijaan and bhabhi were a misaal' for him and hope he will develop that kind of courage when he realizes the depth of his love for Humeira.
Also, wanted to applaud Gul for busting some myths today:
- Women in Islam can't be forced into a nikaah
- Molvis are not always right
- Parents and grandparents are not always our well wishers
- Diwali and Eid can be celebrated across communities and just because Dilshaad is lighting a diya, doesn't make her less of a Muslim.
- Asad, the perfectionist, the man with OCD can have a ponytail as a sign of rebelling against the society.
- Nikaah is a union of hearts, not a piece of paper.
- People change their beliefs with time- Zoya did, so why can't we all?
- We make our own destinies...not someone else
Enjoy...hope we have a heart to heart chat between AsYa before the song tomorrow.
