Taran's figures are basically producer figures and the producers these days hype the numbers so dramatically to increase curiosity. The whole 100 crore club and 200 crore club has really given the media impetus to glorify these figures, while the producers know that if they flash big figures--the viewers will come to the theaters. Previously, they used to hide the actual figures due to taxes but now they report much, much more than the real figures because they know that the hype would ensure more business and that's what matters.

Trade analysts like Taran and Komal have relationships with these producers and directors, while BOI don't. That's why they hype some movies to no end and slam some. It depends on what their role is.

I'm not saying trust BOI blindly. I don't trust anybody 100% but BOI's figures are closer to the truth than Taran's or Komal's figures.

Like for instance, last year--Taran stopped reporting ETT figures after he reported 197 crores because at that rate, it would have crossed 3I's total, which it didn't, so after a few weeks he popped up with the 199.9 figure, which I don't think is correct. These things are very tricky and the only thing that's certain is that ETT was a massive Blockbuster and same with CE and Yeh Jawani. Verdicts are generally accurate over figures because all of these are mere projections.
