Was Payal a good friend or not?

I am still on the fence about Payal.
While I agree that a good friend would not let someone go head long into a brick wall or continue down a bad path... I really disagree with Payal's tactics of telling things which saanchi told her in confidence.

Where was Payal's loyalty earlier?

Did she ever even once tell saanchi off ? There are several scenes of Payal being witness to saanchi's "acting" ,,,payal just sat and listened quietly. She could have told Ira or anandi or chotimaa too at any given time during the whole span of the engagement, if she genuinely disapproved of saanchi.

Then suddenly, she becomes very vocal and ready to spill everything during court... that too in the name of being "a good friend"...

I dont know it seemed 🤢 to me.

I dont think it is appropriate to spill secrets told in confidence to a friend.

If payal felt saanchi was wrong, she could have told saanchi directly and cut off the friendship with her. What is the point of continuing to show herself as a friend and behaving like a wolf in sheep's clothing?

Points of view solicited??

I think payal was fine with it all before as she thought sanchi and jagya were in love but after finding out jagya put sindoor on Ganga and declared his love for her she thought why bother getting revenge and trying to get a guy back who doesn't love her, she thought what's done is done let it go. I think payal felt really uncomfortable with the fact that sanchi stooped so low, endangering her own life, even lying about the cafe conversation blaming her friends for making fun of her and also a case on an innocent man.

Payal was the one who had initially told Sanchi to be nice to Mannu so that she can be in good books with Jagya...
Imagine the same girl goes against her own friend ! A 🤪 friend

angelic - I agree with the fact that everyone has a breaking point, and saanchi stooping so low after the engagement broke off is probably something that made payal uncomfortable.
But even if Payal thought that Jagya and saanchi were in love, she knew that saanchi was "acting" and she also knew that saanchi was planning to split jagdish from his family -- and she was not being honest about her intentions. Infact, in the beginning she herself gave "tips" to saanchi and actively participated in saanchi's antics.

I feel that if she felt saanchi was stooping low, then she should have just cut off the friendship with saanchi and told anandi and shiv to take a hike when they came snooping for information about saanchi's integrity.

Just because one no longer has a friendship with somebody, doesnt make it okay to go and blab all secrets which were told in confidence.

I too have broken off with people - and never told their secrets.

Likewise, they too have never revealed my secrets.

What was the need to be holier than thou and say she was doing it as a "good friend to saanchi"?

I guess payal might not have been a good friend cause she didn't tell her off from beginning.
And when she found out she should have told sanchi about how she is wrong. And if Sanchi did not like that then she should have told Shiv in confidence. ANd thats that. Not like reveal that way in front of everyone. That was not needed.

I thought Payal was going to be called in the court. So under oath she should tell the truth. But outside that she is not bound. She is responsible only to sanchi and if necessary her family members.

at least i think that

A good friend will always take you to the correct path. A good friend will not be quite when he/she sees that you are going on wrong path. So I don't think Payal was a good friend. Had she been indeed a good friend, she would have pointed out Sanchi's wrong deeds to her and if Sanchi did not listen - she would have informed Sanchi's elders - her mother, CM or even Anandi. Testifying against Sanchi may have made her morally good in the eyes of Shiv, Anandi and Singhs, but as a friend she was a big fail. Sanchi has friends like Ankita - who are even worse than Sanchi and who instigate Sanchi to even more wrong path and a friend like Payal - who was initially with Sanchi in this game of trap Jagya by hook or by crook and then ended up spilling the beans against Sanchi in front of other people instead of taking any action to tell Sanchi that she is wrong and she should stop doing such bad things.

for me, what i find offensive is that she never once told saanchi her views on saanchi's actions... then suddenly big blurt of her disagreement with saanchi in front of everyone else.
did she ever document her views on saanchi's acting to be fitting in as bh bahu? no.

did she ever document her views on the coffee shop incident ? no.

did she ever document her views on the 'revenge' strategy by saanchi? no.

I mean she said it was pointless whether ganga had taken pheras or just had sindoor in her maang... that sort of hairsplitting technicality was foolish because the truth was that jagdish did not love her... but she never pointed out the immorality of saanchi's behaviour.

And I agree with suchi, that her stance would have only been appropriate if THE COURT had sent her a summons, and she was under oath... because to not show up with a court summons is perjury and she can be thrown in jail.

But to come on her own without a court summons to give a testimony against saanchi seemed really kachra type of behaviour. And blabbing all that in front of the singhs was even worse. she could have asked for a private consultation with saanchi and family members only.
