Jaya cracked ankle at 'Drona' sets

Actress and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan, who was seen visibly limping at a film awards function recently, had broken her ankle while shooting for Goldie Behl's film "Drona" in Bikaner last month.

"She had a fall in Bikaner and fractured her ankle. She ignored it and kept shooting right through the injury. Because of her broken ankle, we saw her limping at the Filmfare awards show and even in parliament," Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya's husband, told IANS.

Unaware that she had suffered a fracture while climbing down some stairs, Jaya limped through an entire schedule of "Drona" in February.

"Much after the schedule, when the pain got unbearable, we got an X-ray done. That's when we detected a crack in the ankle. If we hadn't persuaded her to get it checked, it (the fracture) wouldn't even have been detected," said Amitabh.

Jaya, self-effacing as ever, made light of the injury.

"I don't like to talk about myself. Yes, the ankle is broken. But so what? Life goes on, I go on," she said.
