i am suprised that they show the walias to be a class and educated lot and then they show the same paying heed to black magic and the ridiculous kundali thing..
what ekta is trying to show is highly regressive,offensive...and not a single person can ask her what is this crap she is dishing out to a updated and modern viewers .......is there any thing positive left in her show.......i knew she and her team wld never be able to handle this plot with respect but had prayed that she does not make a mockery of sentiments and issues that still matter in a country like india....i am suprised what does broadcasting and information dept.pass as viewable and what exactly they censor...... 😕

in ektaland women can shed galores over everything but cannot raise their voice against a single injustice or hypocrisy meted out and are always the suffering lot ready to gain sympathy...is this how indian women are...today....spineless😕...coz if they speak they are sanskar less ...somebody tell me when we shifted back to 18th century

and i am soo angry that neither jai walia nor bani nor the gfns had the guts to show jigs her real face ,i do not think if the creatives talk abt sisterhood reverting to meaningless flashbacks of kids is going to sensitize anything why cld not they show bani standing up for rano as her mother ,.....they really have mocked all relationships

sorry for rambling am so frustrated with this

👏 👏 Bravo for posting this. I just PMed Aperture about this. It's
disgusting to see as Rivs put it women are their own worst enemy.

Women in this time of history are at their most empowered. We don't
have to put up with such behaviour. Although my cousins did remind me
that women in rural areas don't have the kind of support women may
have in urban ones. But with powerful women like Ekta continuing such
stereotypical, paternalistic views on womanhood - they are contributing
to female children being aborted, and women being abused by their
husbands, and being burned for money or because they are widows.

I love RK and the character of JW but if KS continues with its regressive on
the verge of abusive behaviour to the female gender then I will be an ex
KS viewer. If we as women continue to watch this trash, then people like
Ekta who only care about money and TRPs will continue to trash women
regardless of the negative impact their 'fairytale' stories have on women
in society.

I think may be we need to start a revolt and let Ekta and all the women
who contribute to this disgusting portrayal of women know that we are
educated and empowered and don't need to be entertained at the
expense of our female sisters being abused, betrayed, killed, shunned
and otherwise violated.

Just my vehement 2 cents.

Rivs, Hims and I were discussing the same issue that is written in this
post over the weeked in another post--Yes I have definately come to the
conclusion that the saying Women are Womens worst enemies hold true.
So much so in this particular case. It took a man to show this serial with
dignity and it took a womam to take that dignity and turn into pure
disgust--this is utter pathetis and shamefu--there are no words to
describe this sort of mutilation, manipulation and destruction. A woman
doing this to another woman in the name of entertainment. She says she
has cinematic license thats why she gets away with all this. As the Indian
tv industry is so new so currently the bottom line is about the profit
margin. Pertaining to issue at hand, I seriously hold the belief that Ekta
and her team are at a loss with this serial they have no idea wht to do
with wht they have as I think the "vision" for this serial was with SS--and
once he left, the vision for KS went with him. Ekta and her team tried
their true and tested monotonous formulas here and the result is before
us today. My question is How can a woman in a powerful position as hers
and another woman who is the creative director come up and execute
that disgusting ONS scene with JW sleeping with two sisters on the same
night (sex*** hygiene) and JW fathering two sisters children? Mind you,
she keeps on stating in her interviews that KS is different sort of serial.
different in wht way??the same way except the faces change? My take on
this is they absolutely have no idea what they have on their hands--they
are not aware of the product that has come out of Balaji which was
molded with a vision intitially by SS.

reagrds,

Meghna

you said it yaar... the thing is... those who creating these serials has experts of something that we are not at... example... how much a woman can become worst ... i mean the extreme worst... what are the thing a woman can do the worst way... and how the worst can go the society to deal with a child/child birth/child killing/child kidnapping etc... how much worst can make to destroy a house/couple/siblings/friends... i mean all the negativity in the life in its extreme level... i don't know how to say it better way... i don't have their power... the positive things happening in the serials are negligible... natural things... nothing at all.... believable not heard in anything happened... reliable... yes for those who want a easy way to get something in the worst negative way... that is what they teach... just looking into some beautiful people we are sitting in front of the idiot box... kundali... changing kundali to destroy a person... even before birth the child become a curse to family (KAA/KS) and in KAA it was even double so which k undali gone worst God even don't know... panditji tking money to change it... someone so easily giving sedative injections at home... ohhhhh... were to go this list... am not sure... ready stock tears... ready stock frowns... ready stock grinning/eye rolling....

another best part is... one episode preach like a priest as if he saw the God in front of him... next moment do just opposite to what he preached... i remember the bacha/relationship preaches ... mistress killing the man... daughter agrees to take money and keep quiet... hearing the only brother has no expression on his face at all... inside house everything is drama... kuch baki hai?

It watching serials like these that I wish we had more like 'Udhaan' which was shown in Doordharshan years ago when cable T.V. was non-existent in India. This serial was about a girl who achieves her dream about ebcoming a police officer despite all odds.

Here we sit and watch regressive serials like KS which shows women to be spineless, not defending themselves and caving in to archaic customs which atleast among the educated and city bred are slowly dying. Which century do these people live in? Ekta please pull up your socks and redeem this serial before it is all lost.

Wow…what a brave and thoughtful post…fantastic!! You are so right that we underestimate the power of television and cinema as a medium that has an immensely strong influence on the masses that watch it. The portrayal of women in Balaji serials is extremely regressive, even though women are the central characters in all the soaps. There is no doubt that the whole face of television has changed immensely after Balaji came on the scene, but I wish they would use that power to create soaps that challenge and inspire and not churn out different versions of the same saas-bahu nonsense!
It makes me really mad to see how sensitive issues like abortion, miscarriage, rape, widowhood and even euthanasia are dealt in such a cavalier manner. Facts (medical and legal) are misconstrued and appalling judgements are made all in the name of TRPs. Its no longer acceptable now to shrug and say its business, for if we can demand ethics and corporate responsibility from other businesses then why not from TV production houses?
Even our cinema has made great progress and handles a plethora of issues in films like Parzania, Being Cyrus, Iqbal and Dor….why a consummate commercial director like Karan Johar dealt with infidelity in KANK! Why can we not expect the same from Television which has in the past produced path breaking serials like Swabhimaan, Sailaab, Hasratein and Udaan where women were potrayed as strong and in control of their own destinies. Not the weeping willows of today.
Sorry to have rambled on so long, but you have touched on a topic I feel very strongly about!
Cheers
Sims
PS – Have stopped watching KS completely, only the forum keeps it alive for me!

Udhaan is absolutely my all time favorite serial. Not just because of my huge crush on shekhar kapoor's character in the serial 😉. I wanted to be that girl. I identified with her. I had that father who told me I could be anyone I wanted to be. I wanted all my girlfriends who had to be home by 5 while their brothers could stay out till whenever to have my father. Every issue and struggle was so sensitively potrayed. Be is how to deal with dowry burning or how to be a woman while doing a man's job in a man's environment. The serial was absolutley sublime. Now when people rave about acting I feel like they son't even scratch the surface. I think that serial actually helped progress the woman's cause and fight for equality in india. Like me millions of girls in india after watching that got empowered.
