Hello All,
I was just got thinking about the morality issues in this soaps. We Indians portay ourselves as moral and ethical with lots of cultural values (and we should be prod of that). This is why there is always this east and west conflict and we (Indians) fear that too much of western influence would corrupt our morals. Now comes the interesting part Isnt media also a reflection of our culture if not in the pure sense, atleast in some form it does represent the culture......So now after watching Ekta soaps where
1) a man gets married 3-4 times even without divorcing his earlier wives..
2) women get married 3-4 times, bearing a child from each marriage
3) As viewers we forget who is whose child...who is married to whom...
What does this tell about our culture? Is it going down the drain? Is this what we as audiences want?
Well I know I am typing this in a pretty seriuos note, which I should not because afterall these have no realtion with reality. I just found it so amusing...
